If services are online, use the PS5 connection test, restart the console and network equipment, compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet if possible, then investigate NAT or the specific error. These checks help narrow down the cause; no single fix works for every connection problem.
1. Check whether Dead by Daylight or PlayStation Network is down
Before changing your home network, check PlayStation Network service status and Dead by Daylight’s current official notices. An outage can prevent a connection even when your PS5 and router are working normally. Behaviour Interactive’s Error Code 107 guidance also notes that an issue with a platform’s online services can be involved.
Status pages can change quickly, so check them when the problem occurs rather than relying on an earlier report. If a service is listed as unavailable, wait for it to recover before troubleshooting your local network.
2. Test the PS5 connection and compare other services
On the PS5, open Settings > Network > Connection Status > Test Internet Connection. Note whether the console connects to the internet and record the NAT type shown in the results. PlayStation also recommends testing the connection when troubleshooting network errors.

Use what works and what fails to choose your next step:
- The PS5 test fails, or other PS5 online services also fail: The issue may affect the console’s broader network connection, your router, or your ISP—not only Dead by Daylight.
- The PS5 test succeeds and other online services work, but Dead by Daylight does not: Check game-service notices and the error-specific guidance below. A successful general test does not prove that the game’s servers or the route to them are working.
- The connection test succeeds but play is unstable on Wi-Fi: Compare it with a wired connection or test from a location closer to the router.

A PS4 or PS5 console with a wired connection via a LAN cable is recommended. 3. Restart the console and network equipment
- Restart the PS5, then try Dead by Daylight again.
- If the problem remains, turn off the router and modem. Leave them off for at least five minutes.
- Restart the modem and router, allow the network to return, then retry the game.
PlayStation’s WS-115195-2 guidance includes router-restart advice and notes that some server connection issues may be temporary. A restart is a diagnostic step, not a guarantee; if the problem persists, continue with the checks below.
4. Compare Wi-Fi with a wired connection
If you play over Wi-Fi, move the PS5 closer to the router and reduce obstacles between them if you can. Then compare the connection with Ethernet, if available. Behaviour Interactive’s Network Troubleshooting article, published January 21, 2022, says: “If you are using a wireless connection, try using a wired connection as this is typically more stable.”

If Ethernet works more reliably than Wi-Fi, that points toward wireless signal quality as a factor, but does not by itself identify the underlying cause. An Ethernet cable is only worth obtaining if you need one to make this comparison; a cable will not resolve a service outage or every network problem.
5. Check NAT if matchmaking or connection errors continue
NAT affects which other players or services your console can connect to. Check the NAT type in the PS5 connection test, then follow Behaviour’s NAT Types FAQ, which includes PS5-specific instructions. Behaviour explains that NAT Types 2 and 3 can restrict connections; its RTM error guidance recommends Open/Type 1 for that error.

Treat NAT as a possible factor, not a confirmed diagnosis. Router configuration and ISP network setups differ, and NAT alone does not establish why a particular connection fails. Avoid changing router settings without understanding what the setting does; if you cannot determine how to check or adjust NAT safely, ask your router manufacturer or ISP for help.

RTM error
For an RTM error, Behaviour’s RTM Error guidance, published March 4, 2022, calls out checking the system date and time as well as NAT. Confirm that the PS5’s date and time are correct, then use the NAT check above. If the error remains, note its exact text and continue with the escalation steps.

Error Code 107
Behaviour’s Error Code 107 guidance, published September 25, 2025, identifies a platform online-service outage as one possible factor. Check the relevant service status before treating the code as evidence of a fault in your home network.
Other connection errors or repeated disconnects
For “Dead by Daylight keeps disconnecting” or a different message, record the exact error and when it appears. Compare the game with other PS5 online services and use the connection test, restart, and Wi-Fi-versus-wired checks to identify whether the trouble appears broader than this game. PlayStation’s CE-113524-6 troubleshooting page also advises checking manually configured DNS and contacting the ISP about maintenance. Do not change DNS as a general fix; investigate it only if you have a specific reason to believe a manually configured setting is involved.
7. Contact the right support team
- Contact your ISP if the PS5 connection test or other devices also have trouble. Ask whether there is maintenance or an issue with the service delivered to your home.
- Contact Behaviour Interactive support if other PS5 online services work but Dead by Daylight continues to fail. Include the exact error text, when it happens, the PS5 connection-test result and NAT type, and whether Ethernet changes the behavior.
Those details help separate a game-specific problem from a general connection issue without assuming a cause before the evidence points to one.
