Games’ instructions describe a discounted purchase—not a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack. The $10 price was reported in the United States in May 2025; it is not a confirmed current price. Check the game’s listing in your regional Nintendo eShop for the price available to your account.
How to claim the Switch 2 owner discount
Warner Bros. Games Support says the digital Switch 2 edition is available in the Nintendo eShop at a discount to players who already own the Switch edition. The steps differ depending on whether your Switch copy is digital or physical. WB Games Support’s owner-discount instructions say terms apply.

If you own the digital Switch game
- Sign in to the Nintendo account that owns Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch.
- Open the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop listing for the game. WB says the owner discount should appear automatically.
- Check the displayed price before purchasing; the support instructions confirm a discount but do not specify today’s amount.
If you own the physical Switch game
- Launch the original Switch version using the Nintendo account you plan to use for the offer.
- Complete the game’s intro until you reach the main menu.
- Open Additional Content and download “Activate Hogwarts Legacy Owner’s Discount on Nintendo Switch™ 2.”
- Use the same Nintendo account that redeemed that activation download to access the discounted Switch 2 eShop listing.
The activation item enables access to the owner discount; it is not itself a Switch 2 game or a Nintendo upgrade pack.
Why this is not a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack
Nintendo’s general guidance describes Switch 2 Edition games as bundles of the original Switch game and an upgrade pack, and notes that upgrade packs are available only for select games. Hogwarts Legacy’s owner offer is described differently: WB directs eligible owners to buy the digital Switch 2 edition at a discount. The official instructions do not identify the activation download as an upgrade pack. See Nintendo’s guide to upgrading Switch software to a Switch 2 Edition for the general model.

What the $10 claim means
A May 13, 2025 report by Notebookcheck said qualifying owners in the United States could get the digital Switch 2 edition for as little as $10. The same report gave $59.99 as the standard digital listing at that time. Those are historical reported prices, not a price guarantee from WB or confirmation of the current eShop listing. Price and eligibility can depend on region, account, and when you check; rely on the amount displayed in your own eShop.
Notebookcheck also reported that the physical Switch 2 release was a Game-Key Card, with most game files requiring a download, and that it did not receive the same discount at the time of publication. This is dated reporting, not confirmation of current terms, stock, or retail availability. Check the package and retailer listing for the format and download requirements before buying a physical copy.

| What you own or want | What to do | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Digital Switch edition | Use the Nintendo account that owns it; the discount should appear on the Switch 2 eShop listing. | Confirm the price shown for your account and region. |
| Physical Switch edition | Finish the intro, then download the owner-discount activation item from Additional Content on the same Nintendo account. | Make sure the eShop listing recognizes the account that redeemed the item. |
| Physical Switch 2 edition | Check the current retailer listing and package details. | Notebookcheck reported a Game-Key Card requiring a substantial download and no matching owner discount in May 2025; current availability and terms are not established by that report. |
If the Switch 2 listing does not show the expected offer, first confirm you are signed into the account that owns the digital Switch game or redeemed the physical-copy activation item. Nintendo’s troubleshooting guidance for missing Switch 2 Edition content also says software updates may be required and points users toward support when content remains inaccessible.
