Dr. Ratio is a five-star Imaginary Hunt damage dealer built to concentrate damage on one enemy. His Skill can trigger a follow-up attack, and debuffs on its target raise the trigger chance while also powering his CRIT and damage bonuses. For a dependable build, keep at least three debuffs on the enemy he is attacking, then balance CRIT stats and Speed with a team that supports follow-up damage.
How Dr. Ratio’s kit works
Dr. Ratio’s damage plan revolves around his Skill and Talent follow-up attacks. The Prydwen guide, updated 31 May 2026, describes a 40% fixed chance for his Skill to trigger a Talent follow-up. Each debuff on that Skill’s target adds 20 percentage points; at three debuffs, the guide reports a 100% fixed chance. This makes debuff application a core part of his practical build, not just a team bonus.
Debuffs also activate his major-trace benefits. Summation grants CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG for each debuff, stacking up to six times, while Deduction increases damage against debuffed enemies. StarRailBuilds’ 31 August 2026 snapshot likewise identifies debuffs as affecting his follow-up chance, CRIT stats, and bonus damage.
His Ultimate applies Wiseman’s Folly to an enemy. According to StarRailBuilds, allied attacks against that marked target can enable Dr. Ratio’s Talent follow-up, up to two triggers before the effect resets. Because his damage is concentrated on one target, focus attacks and debuffs on the marked enemy rather than spreading them across several foes.

Best Light Cones
Light Cones are in-game equipment. Rankings are recommendations from particular guides, not universal results: team debuff uptime, account investment, and available alternatives affect the practical choice.
| Light Cone | When to consider it | Guide context |
|---|---|---|
| Baptism of Pure Thought | Top pick when the team can maintain the needed debuffs; DEF-shred teammates can increase its value. | Prydwen’s 31 May 2026 guide calls it the clear best option under the condition of maintaining three debuffs. |
| Cruising in the Stellar Sea | Accessible in-game alternative, especially if you do not have the premium option. | StarRailBuilds’ 31 August 2026 snapshot lists it and describes it as a strong free-to-play choice. |
| Sleep Like the Dead | Another listed option to compare with the Light Cones already available on your account. | Listed among recommendations in the StarRailBuilds snapshot; a specific ranking is not stated there. |
Relics and stat priorities
For the main stats, Prydwen’s 31 May 2026 guide recommends a CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG body, Speed boots over ATK% boots, an Imaginary DMG sphere at least as favorable as an ATK% sphere, and an ATK% rope. Its substat order is Speed to a useful breakpoint, then CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG, followed by ATK%.

Prydwen names Duran, Dynasty of Running Wolves as its best planar set, citing its fit with follow-up-heavy teams. StarRailBuilds’ 31 August 2026 snapshot instead recommends Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters, with Wastelander of Banditry Desert and The Ashblazing Grand Duke as alternatives. These recommendations differ across the cited guides; compare the pieces’ substats, your team’s debuff uptime, and how often allies trigger follow-ups instead of treating one set as a permanent winner.
Use endgame targets as guidance, not entry requirements
Prydwen gives suggested endgame targets of 90–100% CRIT Rate and 180–200%+ CRIT DMG, including self-buffs, and Speed targets of base, 134, 143, or 161. These are that guide’s recommendations, not mandatory thresholds for every account or team. Include in-battle self-buffs when assessing CRIT Rate so you do not build beyond the cap.

Trace and major-trace priority
Prydwen recommends leveling Dr. Ratio’s Talent first, followed by Skill, Ultimate, and Basic ATK. For major traces, its order is Summation (A2), Deduction (A6), then Inference (A4). StarRailBuilds also prioritizes the debuff-linked traces, which support the same debuff-centered play pattern.
Teams: keep debuffs on the target
Build around reliable debuff application before chasing a premium damage upgrade. A useful team should be able to maintain at least three debuffs on the enemy Dr. Ratio is using his Skill against, while preserving enough damage amplification, follow-up synergy, and sustain for the encounter.

- Honkai: Star Rail Fugue 1/8 Figure Stellar Luck Ver.
- Debuff options: Prydwen lists Topaz, Silver Wolf, Jiaoqiu, Pela, and Moze as synergies. Topaz’s debuff coverage depends on Eidolon or Light Cone investment, so check the exact setup; if it does not provide enough debuffs, add another debuffer.
- Follow-up support: Robin is a strong amplifier for follow-up teams. Allies that attack the enemy marked by Wiseman’s Folly can also help enable Dr. Ratio’s Talent follow-ups.
- Sustain: Aventurine can provide sustain while contributing a debuff, according to Prydwen’s guide.
When choosing among characters you own, check four things: whether the team reliably reaches the three-debuff Skill target; whether CRIT, damage, or DEF-shred support fits without losing that debuff count; whether allies’ follow-ups make use of follow-up buffs and Wiseman’s Folly; and whether the lineup remains survivable. A team that meets the debuff requirement with your roster can be more practical than a nominally premium lineup that does not.

Dr. Ratio is functional at E0; Eidolons are improvements, not prerequisites. The StarRailBuilds guide says E0 is fully functional. Prydwen describes the upgrades as follows:

These upgrades strengthen his output or rotation, but they do not replace the need to apply debuffs to his target.
