Follow the quest to Phoenix Mountain Cave in Poidsear Coast, reach the summit, and cast the Nab-sack when the Phoenix appears. Then return to Deek in the Room of Requirement.
Unlock Deek’s Phoenix Rising quest
The Phoenix is a quest encounter, not a creature you can find at a repeatable den. Phoenix Rising becomes available late in Deek’s questline. You need to complete the main-story quest Niamh Fitzgerald’s Trial and Deek’s preceding quests, including The Plight of the House-Elf and Foal of the Dead. The prerequisite chain is described slightly differently across walkthroughs, so if Phoenix Rising is not available, check Deek’s current quests in the Room of Requirement and complete any outstanding ones. GameSpot’s guide and PowerPyx’s walkthrough both identify Niamh Fitzgerald’s Trial as a requirement.

Travel to Phoenix Mountain Cave
Track Phoenix Rising and follow its marker to Phoenix Mountain Cave, in Poidsear Coast southeast of Hogwarts. The cave is east of Poidsear Castle. If you have not reached this southern region through story progression, GameSpot notes that you can approach through Coastal Cavern.
Follow the cave route to the summit
Expect combat with poachers and spiders as you make your way through the cave. Follow the quest marker and continue onward even if you see the Phoenix before reaching the end: it flies deeper into the cavern, and you must reach it again at the peak. GameSpot’s walkthrough also notes a poacher who drops a key for a nearby gate; keep progressing along the marked route after dealing with the enemies.

Rescue the Phoenix with the Nab-sack
At the final encounter near the summit, equip and cast the Nab-sack to rescue the Phoenix. You do not need to repeat capture prompts. Once the rescue is complete, return to Deek in the Room of Requirement to finish Phoenix Rising.

After the quest, look for the Phoenix in the Mountain Vivarium, the fourth Vivarium. Gamer Guides’ Phoenix Rising walkthrough reports that the Phoenix is a one-time rescue and cannot be bred, so the quest is the route to obtain it rather than a repeatable capture opportunity.
