To complete Balm for the Wounded, unlock Sherma’s Wayfarer Wish from Songclave’s wishwall, travel to eastern Whiteward, find his hidden room, defeat the ambush, then speak to Sherma again. The reward is a Spool Fragment.
How to unlock Balm for the Wounded
The wish is listed under Songclave’s Wayfarer Wishes and is acquired from the wishwall. The community quest reference says you must first meet Sherma in Songclave after completing Building Up Songclave and at least one other Songclave wish, and visit Whiteward. If the wish does not appear on the board, check those progression requirements before searching for Sherma in Whiteward.
Sherma’s wish reads: “For the sake of our ailing brothers and sisters, I will descend into the holy Whiteward and search for healing supplies. If you are able, please join me! Company will make the work much merrier.”
Where to find Sherma in Whiteward
After accepting the wish, return to Whiteward and search its eastern side for a small, hidden doorway. An independent walkthrough describes following a trail associated with Sherma to locate the entrance; treat that as a possible navigation clue rather than a guaranteed marker.

How to complete the encounter
- Enter the hidden room and speak with Sherma.
- Defeat the enemies that ambush you. The encounter is described as a gauntlet involving Surgeon and Mortician enemies, but available walkthrough accounts do not establish a consistent wave count.
- Speak with Sherma again after the fight to complete the wish.
Reward and related progression
Completing the wish rewards a Spool Fragment. The quest reference also lists Balm for the Wounded as a prerequisite for Silk and Soul. Sources disagree about whether it unlocks The Lost Merchant, so that adjacent unlock should not be treated as confirmed.
