Use Memory Lockets to open additional Tool slots on eligible Crests. For the separate, Crest-independent Vesticrest, the community-maintained Crests wiki reports that Eva gives it to Hornet at Weavenest Atla after 12 qualifying slots are unlocked, then adds a Blue slot at 20. Those thresholds are community-reported, not confirmed by an official Team Cherry source cited here.
How Tool slots and Crests work
Crests affect Hornet’s Needle attacks and grant a unique ability. Each Crest also has its own layout of Tool and Silk Skill slots, and starting slot counts differ between Crests. Some additional Tool slots can be unlocked with Memory Lockets. The Crests wiki describes these mechanics; PC Gamer’s Crest guide also describes Memory Lockets as items found around Pharloom that open Tool slots.
There are two kinds of slots to keep straight: slots tied to an individual Crest, and slots on the Vesticrest, which the wiki describes as independent of the Crest Hornet has selected.
How to unlock more Tool slots
- Find a Memory Locket. These items unlock some additional Tool slots on Crests.
- Choose a Crest with an available slot to unlock. The number and arrangement of slots vary by Crest. The Nintendo Life Tools guide also notes that Crest upgrades can unlock additional Tool slots; it describes 51 Tools in the game, which is a count of Tools, not slots.
- Keep track of eligible unlocked slots. Eva’s reported Vesticrest requirements count slots across Crests other than Hunter. According to the wiki, slots automatically included when you claim a Crest count toward the total as well as those opened with Memory Lockets.
How to get and upgrade the Vesticrest
The Vesticrest is a separate item rather than an upgrade to whichever Crest Hornet is currently wearing. Tools assigned to it remain equipped when you change Crests.

What to check if Eva has not given you the Vesticrest
- Count unlocked Tool slots on eligible Crests, excluding Hunter. The wiki’s threshold is not simply the number of Memory Lockets you have found.
- Include slots that came automatically with Crests you have claimed, as the wiki says these count toward Eva’s total.
- If your count appears to meet a threshold, check your in-game Crest progress and speak with Eva at Weavenest Atla. The available sources do not establish another prerequisite or a specific dialogue trigger.
