You can’t upgrade a Rare Griffin to Uncommon: Rare is a higher rarity. If you meant the next tier up from Rare, the target is Epic, but the available mechanics information here does not establish the required stone or current cost. For the confirmed lower-rarity steps, use the matching Griffin Upgrade Stone at Kat.
Why Rare to Uncommon is not an upgrade
Hypixel SkyBlock Griffin Pets have rarity tiers including Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythic. Moving from Rare to Uncommon would lower the pet’s rarity, not raise it. The available upgrade instructions describe moving pets upward; they do not establish a way to downgrade one.
How to upgrade a Griffin to the next confirmed rarity
Griffin rarity upgrades use Griffin Upgrade Stones at Kat. The stone’s name refers to the rarity the pet will become:
| Current Griffin rarity | Stone to use | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Common | Uncommon Griffin Upgrade Stone | Uncommon |
| Uncommon | Rare Griffin Upgrade Stone | Rare |
These steps and Kat’s role are described by the community-maintained Griffin Pet and Griffin Upgrade Stone pages. In practice, check the pet’s current rarity, then use the stone for the next rarity at Kat. Do not use an Uncommon stone on a Rare Griffin expecting it to become Uncommon.

If you meant Rare to Epic
Epic is the next tier above Rare in the listed rarity sequence. The cited community-wiki upgrade information confirms the Common-to-Uncommon and Uncommon-to-Rare stone mappings, but does not establish the stone, materials, or current cost for Rare-to-Epic. Verify those details in-game before spending items or coins.
How reliable are these upgrade details?
The mechanics above come from a community-maintained Hypixel SkyBlock wiki, not current official Hypixel documentation. Hypixel staff announced that the official Hypixel Wiki closed in July 2026 and that Hypixel would not officially endorse community wiki sites; see the staff announcement. Treat community-wiki details as useful guidance and confirm any costly or volatile details in-game.
