For Version 4.6, build Boothill as a single-target Break damage dealer: prioritize Speed and Break Effect, equip Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge with Speed boots and a Break Effect rope, and use Sailing Towards a Second Life if available. The current featured team is Boothill, Ruan Mei, Fugue and Gallagher. These are dated guide recommendations, not guarantees for every account or encounter.
How Boothill’s kit works
Boothill is a five-star Physical character on The Hunt and a Galaxy Ranger. His kit revolves around forcing a one-on-one Standoff, breaking or defeating that target, and building Pocket Trickshot stacks. HoYoWiki’s Boothill page lists his abilities and character details.

Skill: Sizzlin’ Tango
Boothill enters a Standoff with one selected enemy. His Basic Attack becomes enhanced, the enemy is Taunted, and Boothill cannot use his Skill while the state lasts. The Standoff ends if the enemy is defeated or Weakness Broken; Boothill then gains one Pocket Trickshot stack. Choose a priority target he can break or defeat efficiently, since the duel concentrates his attention on a single enemy. HoYoWiki and Prydwen’s Boothill guide describe this core interaction.
Ultimate: Dust Devil’s Sunset Rodeo
Boothill’s Ultimate delays one target and applies Physical Weakness to it for two turns. This can create a Physical weakness window when an enemy does not already have that weakness, making it useful to consider when planning the break sequence. HoYoWiki’s ability text specifies the two-turn duration.

What is Boothill’s best build?
The Version 4.6 setup below follows HSR-Build.com’s Boothill build page, updated September 26, 2026. The page says its equipment rankings are adapted from Prydwen’s play-measured ranking; treat the order as a guide recommendation rather than a universal performance guarantee.

Choosing relic stats and Light Cones
Speed helps Boothill reach useful turns in the team’s rotation, while Break Effect supports his Break-focused damage. The guide does not provide one universal Speed breakpoint; the useful target depends on team turn order and the account’s build. Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge provides two-piece Break Effect and conditional defense ignore at stated Break Effect thresholds, so Break Effect also helps activate parts of its set effect. For Light Cone alternatives, follow the conditions attached to each option in the build guide rather than treating its ranking as a fixed damage ratio for every superimposition or team.

Featured Version 4.6 team
Boothill / Ruan Mei / Fugue / Gallagher is the current featured team on the Version 4.6 build page. Its roles are a Break amplifier, a weakness-implant support and a sustain who can also contribute to breaking. It is a recommended lineup, not a requirement: use the supports your roster has and can build.
Choosing a sustain or substitute
Prydwen’s Boothill guide also names Gallagher and Aventurine as sustain options. Gallagher can support team Break damage and contribute his own Toughness damage, particularly against Fire-weak enemies. When considering other available supports or a sustain swap, evaluate the practical role they fill rather than assuming an unlisted character has a measured ranking.
- Break amplification: Look for support that improves Boothill’s Break output or helps create a favorable break window.
- Weakness access and Toughness reduction: Consider how the team reaches a break, especially if the enemy does not start with Physical weakness.
- Survivability: Pick a sustain suited to the encounter’s threat level; a contribution to breaking can be an additional benefit.
- Turn order and Speed: Arrange support actions so they help set up Boothill’s damage window while preserving the Speed target that works for your rotation.
- Roster availability: A functional support you own is preferable to treating a featured lineup as mandatory.
Boothill’s focus on one target makes encounter shape relevant: a priority enemy he can break efficiently is a better Standoff target than one that stalls the duel. The team roles and these substitution criteria follow from his kit and the cited guide descriptions; they are not separate measured rankings.
Optional Boothill merchandise
HoYoverse announced a Boothill-themed black-and-red 97-key mechanical keyboard with Red and Frost Sakura switch options. The announcement said Honkai: Star Rail merchandise was available on Amazon during a promotion that ran July 15–28, 2026; that window has ended. The announcement does not establish whether the keyboard is currently listed or in stock, whether those switch options remain available, or regional availability.
