Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo report someone or something on Steam, open the relevant profile, group, post, or content item, choose its report option, select the closest category, and briefly explain what happened. For suspected cheating or scams, use the specific prompts on the player’s profile; for misconduct inside a game, use that game’s reporting tool when available. If the problem is with your own account, contact Steam Support instead.
Choose the report route that matches the problem
| What you’re reporting | Where to report it |
|---|---|
| A player’s behavior, suspected cheating, or a suspected scammer | The player’s Steam Community profile |
| A group | The group’s Steam Community page |
| A review, screenshot, artwork, Workshop item, or other community content | The report control on that item |
| A discussion post | The post’s menu |
| Misconduct inside a particular game | The game’s in-game reporting system, if available |
| A problem with your own Steam account or profile | The Steam Support help wizard |
Steam’s interface can vary by view, and game-specific reporting options differ by title. Follow the current controls shown in your Steam client or browser.
How to report a Steam profile or player
- Open the person’s Steam Community profile.
- Select the large “…” button in the upper-right corner.
- Choose “Report Player.”
- Select the category that best matches the behavior, add a brief description, and submit the report.
Describe what happened and include useful context rather than speculation. For example, identify the interaction or conduct that led you to report the player.
How to report a group, item, or discussion post
Report a group
- Open the group’s main Steam Community page.
- Select “Report Group” in the right sidebar.
- Choose a category, briefly describe the violation, and submit.

How to report suspected cheating
For suspected cheating on a VAC-secured server, report the player through their profile:

- Compatible with Windows and Android.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
- Open the player’s profile and select “Report Player.” If you are in-game, Steam’s default Overlay shortcut is Shift+Tab; open the Friends panel, choose “View Players,” find the player, and open their profile.
- Choose “They are cheating in a game.”
- Select “Submit this account for review.”
- Provide details about what happened and which game was involved, then submit.
For game misconduct outside this profile-report flow, use the game’s own reporting feature when one is available. Steam encourages players to use in-game reporting systems for conduct handled by a particular game.
How to report a scammer, hijacker, or phisher
Steam recommends reporting another user as a scammer, hijacker, or phisher through the built-in profile-report tool rather than opening a Steam Support ticket about that user. Go to the offending profile, select “…” and then “Report Player,” choose the category and violation, describe the interaction briefly, and submit. Steam says a community report provides useful information about the interaction between accounts and is quicker for review and action.

What happens after you submit a report?
Steam Support says reports are reviewed and “typically resolved within 24 hours of submission.” That is Steam’s stated typical timeframe, not a guaranteed deadline; Steam does not show a publication date for this guidance.
You receive a notification if Steam takes action. A report prompts review but does not guarantee that the reported person will be banned. Steam’s community rules say moderators review reported content against its guidelines. Violating content may be removed, and moderators may also apply warnings, feature cooldowns, or restrictions on community features depending on the account’s history and circumstances.

What to do if you need to stop contact or secure your account
- To reduce contact from another user, Steam lists blocking communication and removing the user as a friend as options. Chat filtering and profile privacy settings can also reduce unwanted exposure.
- If the conduct happened outside Steam, report it through the other platform’s tools. If you believe your safety is threatened, Steam advises contacting local emergency or law-enforcement services in your area.
- If you need help with your own account or profile, use the Steam Support help wizard rather than reporting another player. Personal account-security issues should go through Steam Support.
Ignore false-report threats and avoid report bots
Steam says false or automated reports are disregarded, and report-bot services abuse the reporting system. Do not use mass-reporting services or ask others to file reports they cannot verify. A report should describe a real incident and provide relevant context.
