To redeem a standard Minecoins prepaid code, go to the official Minecraft redeem page, enter the 25-digit code, sign in to the Microsoft account that should receive the Minecoins, and confirm. Then open Minecraft Marketplace to check the balance.
Redeem a Minecoins code
- Find the code. On a physical prepaid card, look on the card. For a digital purchase, check the retailer’s confirmation email or order history. A standard Minecoins prepaid code is 25 digits, arranged as a 5-by-5 code.
- Open the official redemption flow. Visit the Minecraft redeem page, or use the Microsoft account redeem page and follow its prompts.
- Sign in to the right Microsoft account. Check that it is the account you want associated with the Minecoins before continuing.
- Enter the code and confirm. Follow the on-screen instructions to apply the content to that account.
- Check Marketplace. Launch Minecraft and look at the Marketplace balance.
Check the code type before redeeming
The Minecraft redeem page directs 25-digit codes to its standard redemption flow. It directs 10-digit codes to xbox.codetocontent.com. Minecraft codes can represent different content, so use the instructions for the specific code rather than assuming every code is a Minecoins prepaid code.
If the code does not work
- Re-enter it carefully. Minecraft specifically advises checking characters that can be confused, such as O and 0 or I and 1.
- Check whether the code has already been redeemed. Minecraft’s redemption FAQ says, “Codes can only be used once.”
- Confirm you are signed in to the intended Microsoft account.
- Keep in mind that some older Java-only or region-specific codes have restrictions.
- If it still fails, contact Minecraft Support and provide proof of purchase.
If Minecoins do not appear in Minecraft
First, make sure Minecraft is signed in to the Microsoft account used for the purchase or redemption. For Minecoins purchased on Minecraft.net, Minecraft Help recommends signing out of the game and restarting it, then checking Marketplace again.
Where Minecoins are used
Minecoins are virtual currency for Minecraft Marketplace content, including skin packs, texture packs, worlds, and mash-up packs. The official Minecoins page lists Windows, Xbox, Nintendo, Android, iOS, Chromebook, and Amazon Fire as compatible platforms. Purchases on Minecraft.net or through the Bedrock Marketplace require a Microsoft account.

- Minecoins are a perfect gift for Minecraft players!
