You must do this separately in each engine class—50cc, 100cc, and 150cc—and unlock Special Cup by earning gold trophies in the four other cups first. Unlock the tracks in 150cc if you want to use them in Time Trial.
What the Extra tracks are
The Extra tracks are 20 courses from the original Super Mario Kart, divided into five Extra Cups that correspond to the game’s regular cups. Nintendo’s official game listing describes 20 classic tracks as unlockable.

Unlock them cup by cup
- Choose an engine class. Start in 50cc, 100cc, or 150cc. Progress is separate in each class.
- Unlock Special Cup if that is the cup you want. In the same engine class, earn gold trophies in Mushroom, Flower, Lightning, and Star Cups.
- Earn a gold trophy in your target cup. The gold trophy is required before the replay that unlocks that cup’s Extra tracks.
- Replay the cup and collect at least 100 coins. Finish the cup with a total of 100 coins or more to unlock its four Extra tracks in that engine class.
- Repeat as needed. Complete the gold-trophy-and-coin requirement for each additional cup or engine class whose tracks you want.
Unlocking Extra tracks for Time Trial
To use Extra tracks in Time Trial, unlock them in 150cc first. Completing the coin requirement in another class does not replace the 150cc unlock for this purpose.
Why winning once does not unlock them
A cup victory alone is not enough. The unlock has two parts: a gold trophy for the cup, followed by a replay of that cup with at least 100 coins. That replay awards four Extra tracks, not all 20 at once.

Getting access to the game
Nintendo identifies Game Boy Advance and Wii U as platforms for Mario Kart: Super Circuit. Its listing notes that purchases on the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS eShops ended on 27 March 2023, so the Wii U listing should not be treated as a current purchase option. Physical-copy availability varies.
