Plan on about 18 hours to finish the main story of Cronos: The New Dawn. Bloober Team’s pre-release estimate put play-testers’ completion time at 18 hours, with a reported range of 16–20 hours depending on play style. For a completionist run, a Windows Central reviewer estimated another 18–20 hours to find texts, audio files, secrets, and cats—but that is a reviewer estimate, not an official total.

How long is the main story?

The best planning figure for one main-story run is about 18 hours. In an interview reported by TechRadar on April 30, 2025, game director Wojciech Piejko said, “Current play testers are finishing the game in 18 hours.” He also noted that the team was still balancing the game, so the figure was not a guaranteed final runtime. The directors gave a broader range of 16–20 hours depending on how players approach it. TechRadar’s interview report

That estimate describes a single story completion, not a formal average across a large player sample. It is useful for scheduling a first run, but your pace and how much you explore can move the total within or beyond the range.

How do play style and source affect the estimate?

Run or estimate Time What the figure represents
Developer play-test estimate About 18 hours; reported range 16–20 hours Pre-release estimate from Bloober Team directors, as reported by TechRadar in 2025; balancing was still underway.
Methodical average playthrough More than 15 hours A Windows Central reviewer’s post-launch experience, not a population average.
Completionist sweep 18–20 additional hours Windows Central reviewer’s estimate to find all texts, audio files, secrets, and cats; not an official completionist benchmark.

The numbers describe different scopes and come from different methods, so they should not be combined as though they were competing measurements. Windows Central’s review

  • Set in a grim world where Eastern European brutalism meets retro-futurist technology, Cronos: The New Dawn lets you experience a gripping story that straddles the line between past and future.
  • The enemies you’ll encounter are nightmarish creatures, born from the remnants of humanity – defeating them will require you to make full use of your arsenal.
  • The creatures you kill won’t stay dead for long. Fallen enemies can be absorbed by others - through a grotesque process called Merging - to become faster, tougher, and far deadlier.
  • This physical edition of Cronos: The New Dawn comes with bonus in-game content and a set of collectible stickers.

How long is a full completionist run?

There is no official full-completionist total established by these sources. Windows Central’s reviewer estimated that seeking every text and audio file, secret, and cat could take 18–20 hours on top of a methodical story run that already topped 15 hours. Treat that as a substantial extra-time estimate, not a precise 100% completion time.

Insider Gaming likewise reported that the developers had not stated a completionist runtime. Its roughly 36-hour figure for two story runs is simply the 18-hour estimate multiplied by two, not a measured total. Insider Gaming’s runtime guide

Does the game encourage replay?

Yes. The directors pointed to unlockable skins, a harder New Game+ mode, trying different upgrades and weapon combinations, and revisiting the layered story as reasons to play again. Zięba said the story needs to be experienced “at least twice” to understand most of it, as reported by TechRadar. That comment is about understanding more of the narrative; it does not mean two runs are required to finish the campaign.
