Why is Mafia: The Old Country shorter than an open-world crime game?
Mafia: The Old Country is a story-led, largely linear action-adventure set in early-1900s Sicily, following Enzo Favara’s rise in the Torrisi crime family. Game Director Alex Cox described its world as a backdrop to the story rather than the focus, saying it is “not an open world game in a conventional sense.” That structure makes a focused campaign estimate more useful than an open-world-style completion target, though optional exploration can still affect an individual run.
