In Mewgenics, Luck is reported to change how random outcomes are selected, not simply add the same percentage bonus to every chance. Luck 5 is the neutral baseline in community guides: higher Luck favors the best of additional rolls, while lower Luck favors the worst. Critical-hit chance is described as a separate mechanic.
What Luck does—and why 5 is the baseline
The community stat guide Understanding Stats in Mewgenics, last updated September 13, 2026, describes Luck 5 as neutral. Its listed odds assume that baseline. Luck above or below 5 affects the selection of outcomes on relevant probability checks: higher Luck favors success, and lower Luck makes failure more likely.
This is not a flat percentage-point adjustment to every chance. The effect depends on the check’s original success probability and on whether the game selects a favorable or unfavorable result. The exact mechanics below are community-reported; no official developer explanation is cited here.
How the extra-die system is reported to work
The stats guide describes each point of Luck away from 5 as adding a 10% chance of an extra roll. When extra rolls occur, high Luck keeps the best result and low Luck keeps the worst. The guide also reports that these chances accumulate at greater distances: it gives one extra roll at Luck 15 and two at Luck 25, with corresponding thresholds below 5.

For a more exact probability model, the community wiki’s Luck page gives a formula. Let s be the original chance of success and f = 1 − s. For Luck L, define k = |(L − 5)/10|, n = 1 + floor(k), and a = k − floor(k). The page reports:
- Luck at least 5: success probability = 1 − fn(1 − a s).
- Luck below 5: success probability = sn(1 − a f).
In plain terms, the formula models favorable selection above the baseline and unfavorable selection below it, including the fractional step between full extra-roll thresholds. It is the wiki’s documented formula, not a developer-confirmed or independently verified description of the game’s code. Mewgenics Wiki: Luck

Luck and critical hits are separate
The community sources report a 2-percentage-point change to base critical-hit chance for each point of Luck. The stat guide specifies this adjustment for physical attacks and describes it as occurring before extra rolls. The wiki describes crit chance as being rolled again with the unit’s Luck. Keep this separate from the general extra-die probability formula: the sources describe a base-crit adjustment as well as Luck-based roll selection, not one universal bonus for every attack or check. The wiki further reports that only physical-damage attacks can randomly crit and that most non-player cats have an exceptionally low base crit chance. Those details, including enemy exceptions, are community-maintained claims; the page could not be directly opened for verification, so they should not be treated as official or used to infer a specific enemy’s crit rate.

Luck can affect more than combat checks
The community wiki lists Luck-related chances on items, abilities, and mutations, along with post-battle item and consumable rewards and the average rarity of items encountered, including in shops. The stat guide also says Luck can affect event outcomes—even when the event does not present a direct Luck check—as well as an explicit Luck option when one appears. These references establish that Luck has reported uses beyond combat, but they do not give a single multiplier that applies uniformly to all such outcomes. How to read Luck in practice
- At Luck 5: treat the stat as neutral under the cited guides’ model.
- Above 5: expect favorable roll selection on checks that use this system; it is not a guaranteed success or a fixed bonus to every displayed chance.
- Below 5: expect unfavorable selection on relevant checks, with the same caveat that the effect varies with the underlying chance.
- For critical hits: consider the separately reported base-crit adjustment for physical attacks rather than applying the ordinary check formula blindly.
- For events and rewards: Luck may matter even when no explicit stat check is shown, but the community references do not provide one universal calculation for every event, item, or shop result.
