Epic says to check its Fortnite Status page when maintenance starts; it will post an estimate if one is available. The July 15, 2025 downtime was for v36.20, not v36.10, and lasted about 8 hours 18 minutes according to contemporaneous reporting. That was one unusually long maintenance window, not a forecast for future updates.
How long is Fortnite downtime?
There is no fixed duration Epic guarantees for Fortnite maintenance. Epic Player Support says to check the Fortnite downtime guidance when maintenance begins; an estimated downtime will be posted there if one is available.
For current outages, Epic’s Public Status page shows whether servers are down or under maintenance and whether a restoration timeframe has been posted. If no timeframe appears, Epic advises continuing to monitor the page. Its support team says it has no additional outage information beyond the status updates.
Was the July 2025 update v36.10 or v36.20?
The July 15, 2025 downtime was for v36.20, not v36.10. Epic’s official v36.20 release notes are dated July 15, 2025, and contemporaneous coverage also identified the extended maintenance as the v36.20 rollout. The v36.10 label does not match the update associated with that date.

Where to check whether Fortnite is down
- Epic Games Public Status shows current service status and any posted restoration timeframe.
- @FortniteStatus is an official channel for live Fortnite service updates. Epic also lists these channels on its live-issues support page.
Because outage status changes, use these live sources rather than relying on an old report that says servers are online. If Epic has not posted a return time, there is no confirmed restoration estimate to give.
