Escape from Tarkov’s profile statistic “The total cost of all items in the stash” is best understood as an internal, base-value estimate—not the amount of roubles you would receive by selling everything. Community explanations distinguish it from both trader payouts and flea-market prices. Battlestate Games has not documented the statistic’s exact current formula or which storage locations and item conditions it counts, so treat it as a rough inventory indicator rather than a cash-out quote.
What the stash-value number represents
The profile label refers to the total cost of items in your stash. Players commonly interpret “cost” as an item’s underlying or base value, rather than the amount a trader or flea-market buyer would pay. In a recent player discussion, Reddit commenter AetherBytes described it as counting “the base value of an item, not it’s worth to traders or on the flea.” That is community commentary, not an official explanation from Battlestate Games. Read the discussion.
This interpretation fits the game’s separate use of base prices in flea-market listing-fee calculations. The Trading reference describes a fee formula that uses predetermined base values for offered and requested items, along with modifiers and quantity. That establishes a role for base prices in the economy; it does not confirm that the profile statistic sums every item’s base price in exactly the same way.
Why it is not your sale value
The profile total is an aggregate statistic. Selling items is a series of separate transactions, and the amount you can realize depends on the item, the buyer, and current market conditions.

| Measure | What it tells you | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Profile stash value | The displayed total cost/value of items in your stash. | The exact current calculation and inclusion rules are not established by official documentation cited here. |
| Trader proceeds | What a particular trader offers for an item. | Offers can differ by trader and item; the profile total is not a trader quote. |
| Flea proceeds | What you may receive from a player listing if it sells. | Eligibility, listing fees, and changing prices affect the result. A listing price is not guaranteed profit. |
So a large stash total does not guarantee that you could sell everything for that many roubles. It also does not tell you which items are worth keeping, selling to a trader, or listing on the flea.
How to estimate what an item will actually earn
- Check trader offers. Compare the available offers for the item rather than assuming one trader’s price applies universally.
- Check the flea market if the item is eligible. Compare current listings, then account for the listing fee and the possibility that the item may not sell at your chosen price.
- Use the net amount, not the headline listing price. Market prices move, and the flea fee reduces proceeds.
If you want an at-a-glance comparison, Tarkov Lab advertises a feature that shows flea and trader values when you hover over an item in your stash. It is an independent companion tool, not an official source, and it does not claim to reproduce the profile statistic’s formula. See Tarkov Lab’s feature page.

What is not established about the calculation
The available sources do not confirm the exact current algorithm, whether hideout racks or other storage count, how condition or item variants are treated, or whether every item category is included. A community thread raises the question of hideout storage but does not resolve it authoritatively. Avoid relying on a specific inclusion rule unless it has been verified for the current game version. An older community discussion about scav inventory value is historical and anecdotal, not definitive documentation of today’s profile calculation.
