In WoW Classic, the route to Stonetalon Mountains depends on where you start and which flight paths your character has learned. From Ashenvale, take the Talondeep Path on foot; from the Barrens, travel northwest. Alliance characters with the route unlocked can fly from Astranaar to Stonetalon Peak, while Horde characters can fly from Crossroads to Sun Rock Retreat.
Choose your route by starting zone
| Starting point | Route on foot | Flight option |
|---|---|---|
| Ashenvale | Take the Talondeep Path through the mountains into Stonetalon. | Alliance: fly from Astranaar to Stonetalon Peak if the relevant flight paths have been discovered. [Wowhead Classic flight-point guide] |
| The Barrens | Head northwest into Stonetalon. | Horde: fly from Crossroads to Sun Rock Retreat if the route has been learned. [Wowhead Classic flight-point guide] |
| Mulgore | Follow the road east through Camp Taurajo into the Barrens, then continue toward Crossroads and head northwest into Stonetalon. | Once in the Barrens, a Horde character may use an unlocked flight path to Sun Rock Retreat. [Warcraft Wiki Classic Mulgore page] |
From Ashenvale: use the Talondeep Path
For a direct overland route from Ashenvale, travel through the Talondeep Path into Stonetalon Mountains. Alliance characters can instead take the flight from Astranaar to Stonetalon Peak, provided they have already learned the required flight route. From the Barrens: head northwest
Travel northwest from the Barrens into Stonetalon. Horde characters who have learned the connection can fly from Crossroads to Sun Rock Retreat. [Warcraft Wiki Classic Barrens page] [Wowhead Classic flight-point guide]
From Mulgore: go east through Camp Taurajo
Take the road east out of Mulgore, pass through Camp Taurajo, and continue into the Barrens toward Crossroads. From there, head northwest on foot or use an available Horde flight route. [Warcraft Wiki Classic Mulgore page]

- Great product!
Why a flight path may not be available
A flight path is usable only after your character has visited a friendly flight master and learned it. The guide lists Stonetalon Peak with Alliance flight master Teloren and Sun Rock Retreat with Horde flight master Tharm; nearby hubs include Alliance Astranaar and Horde Crossroads. Ratchet in the Barrens and Marshal’s Refuge in Un’Goro Crater are neutral flight points identified by Blizzard. That does not make every flight route or destination faction-neutral. [Blizzard Classic travel article]

Plan for the terrain
Wowhead’s Classic Alliance leveling guide gives Stonetalon Mountains a level range of 15–25 and notes that cliffs and ravines can make travel difficult away from the main road. This is zone guidance, not a guarantee that every route is safe for every character or Classic ruleset. [Wowhead Classic Alliance leveling guide]
If your flight is not available, use the overland route from your current zone: Talondeep Path from Ashenvale, northwest from the Barrens, or east through Camp Taurajo from Mulgore.
