The normal level-up inventory has up to six weapon slots, but stage-generated weapon pickups can push your total above the selected limit. To block particular weapons instead, use Banish during a run or Seal from the Collection menu before entering a stage.
Set a weapon-slot limit before the run
- Before launching a stage, look for the Max Weapons modifier in the run settings.
- Choose the maximum number of weapon slots you want filled through level-ups, then start the run.
The modifier is the relevant control for limiting level-up weapon slots. Its availability depends on your unlocked settings and the version or platform you are playing. The current menu sequence and a universal unlock requirement are not established, so if you cannot find it, check that the modifier is unlocked and available in your game.
Why your run can exceed the limit
The usual level-up inventory allows up to six weapons. That is not necessarily a hard cap on every weapon you can acquire: stage-generated weapon pickups can add weapons beyond the ordinary level-up limit. If your total is higher than the modifier you selected, a pickup may explain the difference.
Block specific weapons with Banish or Seal
| Option | When to use it | Effect | Important limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Max Weapons | Before a run | Limits weapon slots filled through level-ups. | Stage-generated weapon pickups can exceed the level-up cap. |
| Banish | During a run | Removes an item from future level-up choices for that run. | It is not a permanent block. With Limit Break enabled, a banished weapon can still receive upgrades after the build is fully upgraded. |
| Seal | In the Collection menu, before entering a stage | Removes eligible items from level-up choices and eligible light-source pickups. MEGA SEAL can seal all weapons in a version category. | Its exact behavior depends on item eligibility; it is a separate control from the weapon-slot limit. |
Use Banish for a one-run adjustment
When an unwanted weapon or item appears among your level-up choices, Banish it to remove it from future choices for the current run. It does not stop eligible stage pickups, and it does not permanently change your collection.

Use Seal to prepare before entering a stage
Open the Collection menu and use Seal on items you want excluded before the stage begins. MEGA SEAL provides a category-wide option for weapons in a version category. Because Seal can also affect eligible light-source pickups, it is useful when the goal is to prevent particular items from appearing rather than merely reduce level-up slots.

For a run built around one weapon, set Max Weapons to one if that setting is available to you. If you also want to prevent unwanted weapons from appearing through other eligible choices or pickups, use Seal before the stage. Banish is useful for removing an item that appears during the run, but it is not a substitute for the pre-run controls.

A dated official example is the Gyorunton unlock condition in poncle’s Patch 0.9.0 announcement on Steam from July 21, 2022: “Survive 15 minutes in the new challenge stage, with 1 active weapon only.” This documents that specific challenge unlock, not the current general settings flow.
