In the original Tomodachi Life for Nintendo 3DS, you cannot directly order two Miis to fall in love or guarantee a confession. A Mii may develop feelings and ask you whether to confess; you can respond when that problem appears. You can also encounter a setup initiated by a mutual friend, but neither route is a guaranteed way to pair a couple you choose.
What you can do when a Mii has a crush
- Look for a love-related problem. A heart problem icon and special music when you enter the Mii’s apartment are described as cues for a confession event in the Tomodachi Life Wiki’s Sweetheart reference.
- Enter the apartment and hear the Mii out. The Mii tells you whom they like and asks whether they should confess. This is the point where you can respond; it is not a prompt to choose any Mii as a crush.
- Decide whether to encourage the confession. If the target accepts, the two become sweethearts. If the target rejects the confession, the confessor can become sad. The Confession reference describes these outcomes, so encouraging a confession is not risk-free.
Can you make two specific Miis fall in love?
Not on demand. The available descriptions do not establish a command, exact relationship threshold, probability, or waiting period that makes a particular pair confess. Treat social interaction or relationship-building as a possible nudge at most, not as a proven formula. Repeated pairing, gifts, moving Miis, or waiting a set number of days should not be presented as guaranteed methods.

Keep the original game separate from Living the Dream
This advice is for the original Tomodachi Life, a Nintendo 3DS game identified in Nintendo’s instruction manual. The manual confirms the product and platform but does not explain the romance trigger.

Nintendo’s FAQ for the later Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream says players can choose a Mii’s dating preferences, including male, female, non-binary, multiple options, or none.
