Open the cheat console and enter resetSim Firstname Lastname to reset one stuck Sim. On PC or Mac, press Ctrl+Shift+C; on PlayStation, press L1+L2+R1+R2; on Xbox, press LB+LT+RB+RT. Replace the name with the Sim’s first and last name, then press Enter.
Reset one stuck Sim with a console command
- Open the cheat console: press Ctrl+Shift+C on PC or Mac, L1+L2+R1+R2 on PlayStation, or LB+LT+RB+RT on Xbox.
- Type
resetSim Firstname Lastname, replacing the example name fields with the stuck Sim’s actual first and last name. EA’s example isresetSim Bella Goth. - Press Enter to run the command.
EA lists this command for stuck Sims in its The Sims 4 Cheats FAQ.
Reset all Sims, or use the debug interaction
Try the wildcard command
To attempt to reset every Sim in the current game, enter resetSim * in the cheat console. EA warns that it may not reset every Sim and can return a “Sim not found” error, so use the named command when one specific Sim is the problem.
Use Reset Object (Debug)
- Open the cheat console, type
testingcheats true, and press Enter. - Hold Shift and click the Sim you want to reset.
- Select Reset Object (Debug).

What a reset changes
According to EA Help, resetting returns the Sim to a playable state, but does not send them back to their home lot or change their needs. It also cancels wishes and moodlets. Check the Sim afterward and reissue any actions they still need to complete.
