In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Glacier skins are considered scarce and desirable by many players, but there is no verified public count of how many accounts own them. Ubisoft’s published history establishes their legacy context; it does not establish an ownership total or an objective rarity ranking. “Glacier” can also refer to a separate Counter-Strike cosmetic, so this article focuses on Siege.
What makes a Glacier skin seem rare?
“Rare” can mean several different things for a digital cosmetic: limited historical distribution, few items currently available to trade, or strong demand among players. Those are not interchangeable. Community posts describe Siege Glacier skins as rare or desirable, but they are anecdotal rather than a measure of how many players own them.
Ubisoft’s seasons archive identifies Operation Black Ice as Year One Season One and gives its release month as February 2016. Ubisoft’s November 15, 2016 Year One Season Pass announcement describes exclusive customization items introduced during Year One seasons. This supports the view that Glacier belongs to Siege’s early history, but neither source publishes a Glacier-specific owner count or proves exactly when every item was available.
Is there an official rarity count?
No verified statistic in the available official sources states how many Siege players or accounts own Glacier skins, or what share of the player base has them. Calling Glacier “one of the rarest” or assigning it a definitive rank would go beyond the published evidence. A Marketplace listing count, when available, is also not a count of all owners: it reflects current trade opportunities, not every account holding the item.

Can you get a Glacier skin now?
Check the specific item in Ubisoft’s live Rainbow Six Siege Marketplace. Ubisoft says only items that are currently tradable can be bought there. Its Marketplace information explains that buyers set a maximum price and the system seeks the lowest matching sale. Whether a particular Glacier item is available, and at what price, can change; this article does not establish live stock or prices. Ubisoft also states that it retains a 10% transaction fee from sale proceeds. That fee is a platform charge, not evidence of an item’s value or scarcity.
What to compare before buying
- The exact item: Check the weapon or cosmetic name rather than treating “Glacier” as one interchangeable listing.
- Current availability and price: Review the live Marketplace listing and matching terms; an absent listing does not establish how many owners exist.
- Tradability and eligibility: Confirm that the item is currently tradable and that your account can use the Marketplace.
- Scarcity claims: Treat community descriptions as opinions unless they are backed by a reliable ownership dataset and methodology.
Don’t confuse Siege Glacier with Counter-Strike
Searches for “Glacier skin” can also lead to the P90 | Glacier Mesh in Counter-Strike. That is a different game cosmetic, so its availability or rarity does not answer how rare Siege Glacier skins are.
