What counts as completing the game?
Finishing the story
If you want to see the main narrative through to its ending, use roughly 12 hours as a planning estimate. You can stop there without completing every optional task or finding every collectible.
Exploring beyond the main path
Optional content adds time. Xbox Wire’s March 2020 achievement announcement lists goals such as completing every side quest, finding collectibles, finishing Spirit Trials, buying maps, and unlocking or upgrading abilities and shards. Those objectives help explain why a run that pursues extras can take longer than a direct story playthrough.

Going for every achievement
An all-achievements run can involve more than ordinary exploration. TrueAchievements’ 20–25-hour figure covers all 37 achievements, using the modal completion time from 361 of its members who completed the game. Treat it as a community-based achievement target, not a guaranteed time for every player.
Why your playthrough may take more or less time
- Scope: A story-focused run, a run with optional activities, and completionist play are different goals.
- Exploration and backtracking: Time spent searching, revisiting areas, and pursuing side content changes the total.
- Challenge goals: Some achievements add specific requirements beyond reaching the ending.
Xbox Wire lists “Look at the Time” for completing the game in under four hours. That is an achievement challenge threshold, not a typical playtime estimate. The available figures do not establish a precise time by platform, difficulty, or player experience.

How to use these estimates
- Set aside around 12 hours if your priority is the main story.
- Allow roughly 15.5 to 18.5 hours if you expect to explore optional content or aim for completionist play.
- Use 20–25 hours as a rough target if you intend to earn all achievements.
These are approximate community figures, so your own time will depend on how much you explore and which goals you pursue. Xbox lists Ori and the Will of the Wisps for Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch on its official game page; the estimates here do not distinguish between platforms.
