The quest was seasonal, and the sources available as of October 8, 2026 do not confirm whether it is currently available.
How to complete Tracking Quest
- Accept the quest from Alyx. Find her in the main tent at the Caverns of Time. She gives you Rexxar’s note. The quest reference places Alyx near 63.0, 50.2. Quest reference
- Follow the note toward Northrend. Use the note’s objective and your in-game map to find the transport route to Borean Tundra. Walkthroughs describe a teleport device reached by flying north toward the coast; their route descriptions and coordinates vary, so prioritize the quest objective over a guide’s exact pin. - Ask Maru for a hint if needed. This is optional. The recorded hint says to find the docks yourself if the ship does not take you to the intended destination. Quest database entry
- Find Rexxar in Borean Tundra and speak with him. The quest completes when you talk to him at his camp. The quest reference lists his location near 77.3, 46.2. Quest reference
Coordinates and route notes
Coordinates in secondary walkthroughs are not fully consistent. One describes the transport at 44 north, 36 east; another lists it at 68.04, 40.85 and Rexxar at 77.31, 46.17. The quest reference lists Rexxar near 77.31, 46.18. Treat these as guide-reported locations rather than guaranteed current pins; coordinate formats and map presentation can differ. Where Tracking Quest sits in the chain
The quest chain places Tracking Quest after The Great Detective and before The Trail’s Gone Cold. Once you speak with Rexxar, you can continue with The Trail’s Gone Cold if it is available to you. Quest reference
Is Tracking Quest available now?
Tracking Quest was part of World of Warcraft’s 20th Anniversary Guest Relations event. A walkthrough published in November 2024 said the event was scheduled to run until January 6, 2025. The quest reference warns that anniversary quests are seasonal and does not guarantee a return. As of October 8, 2026, the available sources do not establish whether the quest has returned or is currently available. Quest reference November 2024 walkthrough
