How to trigger Far Cry 5’s secret ending
- Start a new game and play through the opening until the group reaches Joseph “The Father” Seed in Hope County.
- When the game prompts you to cuff or arrest him, do not press anything. Leave the controls alone.
- Wait. Published guides give slightly different estimates—about 90 seconds in GameSpot’s account and two minutes in Gameranx’s—so treat that as an approximate window, not a precise countdown. The sheriff eventually calls off the arrest, and the ending sequence and credits follow. GameSpot Gameranx
What “beat the game in minutes” means
GameSpot reported that the shortcut can bring up the credits after around 10 minutes overall. That is an estimate from its 2018 coverage, not a guaranteed timer: the exact wait and opening sequence can vary. It is an abbreviated early ending, not a playthrough of Far Cry 5’s full story. The same article estimated the full story at about 25 hours, with optional activities affecting play time. GameSpot’s report

Why the choice works
The opening setup is an attempted arrest of Joseph Seed, leader of the Project at Eden’s Gate cult, in fictional Hope County. Ubisoft describes the premise this way: “Marshal has come to Hope County to arrest Joseph ‘The Father’ Seed, leader of The Project at Eden’s Gate cult.” Ubisoft News
Wait or proceed?

If your goal is to see the full story, proceed with the arrest. If you only want to see the secret early ending, waiting at the prompt is all that is required; no guide or additional item is needed.
