Gunsmith – Part 2 asks you to modify an AKS-74U for Mechanic. First complete Gunsmith – Part 1 and reach level 5. Because a quest reference currently pairs the AKS-74U objective with an unrelated RSASS build section, use the requirements shown in your active in-game task—not the RSASS specifications—before buying parts.
What you need before starting
- Reach level 5.
- Complete Gunsmith – Part 1.
- Accept Gunsmith – Part 2 from Mechanic.
The task listing identifies the objective and required weapon as an AKS-74U. TarkovHead’s Gunsmith – Part 2 listing also contains a conflicting guide section describing an RSASS build. Do not treat that section’s stats or parts as requirements for this AKS-74U task.
Get an AKS-74U and assemble a sample build
TarkovForge’s AKS-74U guide lists the following example parts and trader sources. It does not provide the task’s numeric thresholds, so this is a starting point rather than a verified minimum or guaranteed turn-in build.

Check the task panel before turning it in
- Build the AKS-74U with your chosen parts.
- Open the active Gunsmith – Part 2 task in-game and compare the weapon with the requirements shown there. Do this before spending on additional parts: the available quest reference’s RSASS specification section conflicts with its AKS-74U objective, and the sample build guide does not list numeric thresholds.
- Fold the stock before hand-in, as recommended by the AKS-74U build guide.
- If the task panel accepts the weapon, submit it to Mechanic.
Why online build requirements may disagree
The quest reference identifies the AKS-74U as the required weapon, but its guide subsection switches to an RSASS and lists RSASS-oriented specifications. That mismatch makes those specifications unsafe to use for this task. The AKS-74U parts above are only one guide’s example; the exact stat thresholds and any mandatory attachments are not established by that guide. Treat the active in-game objective as the deciding check.
