Where to start One Leaf, One Life
Travel to the Hopewell Academy boundary stone in Kaifeng City and look for a shop on fire with people gathered around it. Interacting with the scene begins Feast of Leaves: Volume I, the opening quest of this three-phase Lost Chapter. Follow the volume quests in order and use the journal to see which objective is currently active.
How the three phases and leaf gates work
A consolidated walkthrough reports these white-leaf requirements: six leaves for Phase 1, five of seven for Phase 2, and all seven for Phase 3. These are guide-reported requirements, not an official patch-specific checklist. The chapter advances through Feast of Leaves and Tale of Gold Leaves volumes, with supporting stories filling out the leaf requirements.

Treat these as reported related activities, not a universal checklist: prioritize the unfinished objectives in your in-game journal, since that is the clearest guide to what is blocking your progress.

Reported side-story objectives
If one of the named tales is an active requirement, these walkthrough-reported actions can help you recognize its objective:
- Whispers of the Lotus Pastry: Speak with the Bookkeeper.
- Cuju: Talk to Ren Xiaoping and finish the Cuju activity.
- Return to Sender: Speak with Zhao Ya and read his letters aloud.
- Feast of Fulfillment: Give Xu Yan the recipe book.
- Heart Stealer: Use the Praise emote on Granny Chen, then report back.
- Pear Blossoms of Yore: Give Wu Caifeng Hemostatic Powder. Game8 says the powder can be bought at General Stores or crafted: Game8’s Pear Blossoms of Yore walkthrough.
Game8 describes Pear Blossoms of Yore and A Tearless Farewell as following completion of One Leaf, One Life Chapter 2. That makes them relevant related tales, but does not establish that every player must complete both to advance every version of the Lost Chapter. After clearing the required chapter objectives, follow the active quest until you reach Huang Liang at Every Hearth. A written walkthrough gives this final sequence:
- Go to the marked rooftop in South Gate Avenue and eavesdrop on Zheng Ran and Zheng Qi.
- Travel to the Harmonic Span teleport stone and speak with Ren Xiaoping nearby to trigger the concluding cutscene.
A separate video-guide description also mentions returning to Zhang’s Eatery, attending the feast at Tianjing Dock, finding Zhang Ran, and going to the Immortal Tree. Use those steps as supplemental route guidance if they match your active objective; the written finale walkthrough specifically identifies the rooftop eavesdropping and Ren Xiaoping conversation.

If the chapter will not advance
- Open the journal and select the active One Leaf, One Life objective; complete that requirement rather than guessing from another guide’s side-story list.
- If a leaf gate remains, check the displayed count and unfinished tales for the current phase.
- If the journal points to a related Wandering Tale, follow its named objective. For Pear Blossoms of Yore, for example, the reported task is to provide Wu Caifeng with Hemostatic Powder near the Hopewell Academy boundary stone.
- When an objective name or requirement differs from a walkthrough, rely on the in-game journal. The published walkthroughs are secondary and may not reflect every game update.
