To finish Reckoning, reach the stable at the edge of the Suchdol search area and interact with a horse. You do not need to find Markvart or rescue Samuel. If you want Samuel to escape too, untie him in the southwest barn and carry him to the stable—he is too wounded to walk.
Where to find the horse
Follow the quest objective or map marker toward the stable outside, or at the edge of, Suchdol’s fortified village. Walkthroughs disagree about its compass direction: PowerPyx describes it as southwest of the search area, Gamer Guides places it northwest of Samuel, and Gameranx says the horses are outside the fortified town on its east side. Since those descriptions do not agree, use the in-game marker and check the stable beyond the fortified section rather than relying on a compass direction.

At the stable, interact with a horse. That interaction completes Reckoning; you can leave alone or bring Samuel if you have rescued him.
Escape alone or rescue Samuel?
Rescuing Samuel is optional. The choice changes his fate and, according to Gamepressure’s walkthrough, affects the timing of Henry’s reinforcements and whether the Praguers steal the silver during the delay.

How to rescue and carry Samuel
Reach the barn
Samuel is in a barn in Suchdol’s southwest. PowerPyx recommends approaching from inside the enemy camp, climbing a ladder, and dropping into the barn. Gameranx also describes entering via a ladder and confronting Brabant. Once Samuel is untied, he cannot walk, so you must carry him.

Prepare the route to the horses
Scout the route before picking Samuel up. PowerPyx describes leaving the street, turning left, and moving through a yard and bushes. Gameranx points to a broken wall covered by shrubs as a way toward the horses; Gamer Guides describes a route through a house and bushes. These are guide-recommended stealth options, and patrols or the camp’s alert state can change how difficult the escape is.
A Praguer waffenrock acquired during The Lion’s Den can help Henry move through camp as one of the Praguers, according to Gamepressure. Without one, that guide recommends taking one from a soldier. Gameranx cautions that carrying Samuel can still draw an attack if guards see Henry, even when he is disguised. PowerPyx recommends saving before dropping into the barn and checking the route before carrying Samuel.

Do you need to find Markvart?
No. Markvart is an optional detour, not part of the horse objective. PowerPyx says the tavern encounter unlocks the missable Face to Face trophy or achievement when its cutscene plays. You can skip it and head for the stable to escape.

Brabant is part of the rescue encounter, not a requirement for escaping on horseback alone. Gamepressure reports that the encounter gives you a choice to kill or spare him. If you only want to complete Reckoning, you can avoid this optional sequence and go directly to the stable.
