To defeat Wolf Maiden, drain her Qi with deflections, dodge every gold-glowing attack, and keep attacking through phase two so her Qi cannot recover. When she becomes Exhausted, use the on-screen execute prompt.
Where to find Wolf Maiden
The world-boss route is at Desperation Ridge near Granary of Plenty, in southeastern Kaifeng. The guides say the encounter appears at night. From the nearby Boundary Stone, speak with the Yang brothers and follow them up the hill; clear the wolves on the way if they attack. The Boundary Stone is also a useful nearby respawn point. AllThingsHow’s guide, updated June 29, 2026, and Gamer Guides’ Wolf Maiden guide describe this route.
This is distinct from an earlier Wolf Maiden encounter available through the Feast Before the Beasts side quest at Blissful Retreat. Gamer Guides reports the boss at around level 50, but that is a guide-reported detail, not a universal access or level requirement; progression and updates may affect what you encounter.
How the fight works
Focus on her Qi gauge, not only her health. Deflecting her attacks drains Qi; once she is Exhausted, take the execute prompt and follow with a strong combo. Her weapons flash before attacks, giving you a cue to time deflections.
- Gold glow: dodge. These attacks cannot be blocked or parried.
- Red attack: aim for a perfect parry to counter when you can read the timing.
- Other melee attacks: deflect to drain Qi.
Do not press parry as soon as a combo begins and assume it is over. Some strings have a delayed final hit that can catch an early reaction. If you lose the rhythm, retreat to recover rather than trading blows blindly.

- Opening wolf attacks: Wolf Maiden perches in a tree and sends wolves at you. Dodge their howls and deflect their leaps, using the red eye flash as a cue. Parrying the wolves does not drain Wolf Maiden’s Qi.
- Dive from the tree: dodge the gold-glowing dive as she comes down.
- Claw-and-dagger string: the guide describes a nine-hit sequence with a delayed final hit. Keep watching through the apparent end of the combo.
- Leaping blade flurry: read the sequence and deflect its attacks rather than assuming a single hit.
- Red rush: this multi-hit attack can be perfect-parried for a counter if your timing is reliable.
- Retreat into claw string: she may pull back before a four-hit sequence. Be ready for the follow-up rather than chasing immediately.
- Gold grab: dodge; do not attempt to block or parry it.
- Dagger throws: watch her at range and respond to the projectiles instead of treating them like a melee opening.
- Dash behind you: she can move behind the player and follow with a red slash. Turn to face her and watch for the slash cue.
Gamer Guides also notes a fast light-attack chain followed by slower charged hits, and later pounces from the trees. It recommends dodging near a pounce’s landing point for a chance to stagger her. These patterns are guide observations and can vary if the encounter changes in a later game update.
Keep pressure up in phase two
AllThingsHow reports that at roughly 75 percent health, Wolf Maiden channels red energy and howls to begin phase two. Her Qi then slowly refills, so backing away for too long can undo your progress. Stay aggressive between attacks and keep deflecting, but continue to dodge gold cues and respect the stronger attacks. The later phase also adds bleed and a gold dive-bomb, which must be dodged.

Optional ways to make the fight easier
These are options described by AllThingsHow, not requirements for winning:
- Bring Yuan Jin’gang: his bow can stagger Wolf Maiden and damage her Qi at range. Keep her attention on you so the companion is less likely to be targeted.
- Use equipment and weapon skills: upgraded gear can help, while the guide specifically suggests Infernal Twinblades stagger skills or Stormbreaker Spear’s taunt.
- Practice the timing: Elite Practice offers a way to learn her patterns before committing to the encounter.
- Use co-op or weaken world bosses: co-op can reduce the pressure on one player; repairing the Bell of Demoncalm is another guide-listed way to weaken world bosses.
Choose based on what is available and how you prefer to play: practice deflections solo, or use a companion, co-op, or the world-boss weakening mechanic. The guides do not establish one approach as best for everyone.
