Use fire, stay at medium range and keep to one side of the Tyrannical Predator. Save stamina for defense, then respond to each attack rather than rushing in: dodge the delayed lunge at the last moment, and watch for a tail whip after your punish. The most dangerous move is the charged grab; sprint sideways as it starts and dodge just before it reaches you.

Where to find the Tyrannical Predator

The Tyrannical Predator is a non-optional boss at the Savanna Experience Center in Lies of P: Overture. Defeating it rewards a Full Moonstone, according to GamingBolt’s boss overview.

Overture is a separately purchased expansion. NEOWIZ’s June 6, 2025 launch notes say you must reach Chapter 9 and repair the Hotel Stargazer before entering the Forgotten Time. The same notes say the game offers three difficulty levels, adjustable through Settings → Gameplay → Difficulty; check the current in-game menu in case later updates changed it. See NEOWIZ’s launch patch notes.

What is the Tyrannical Predator’s biggest weakness?

Fire is the clearest weakness to exploit: both the boss-specific guide and GamingBolt recommend it. GamingBolt also lists pierce as a weakness, but does not compare its effectiveness with fire. The boss-specific guide identifies the Predator as a carcass-type enemy and suggests a Salamander Blade with an Acidic Spear Handle for an Advance build, or a Fire Abrasive to add fire damage to another weapon. These are recommendations, not a tested ranking of builds.

Choose a strategy that suits your build

Approach Suggested setup Best fit Trade-off
Fire-focused damage Salamander Blade with Acidic Spear Handle for an Advance build, or Fire Abrasive Players who can build around Advance or want to add fire damage The guide recommends these options but does not provide a controlled comparison of their damage or performance.
Guard-and-poke Aegis Legion Arm; Carcass Butcher’s Amulet is another suggested option Players who prefer a safer defensive rhythm over relying on perfect parries Blocking and poking still use stamina, so avoid spending it all before the boss’s next attack.

The equipment suggestions come from GamerBlurb’s boss guide. The sources do not establish which setup is best overall; choose based on your stats and comfort with guarding.

How to handle each attack

GamerBlurb’s June 9, 2025 guide describes the following tells and responses. Use them as encounter guidance, not as guaranteed timing for every situation.

  • Delayed lunge: When the Predator turns its head and pauses, expect it to snap forward. Dodge toward the open side at the last moment; dodging too early can leave you in its path.
  • Two-hit slam: Be ready for a second hit and a possible tail whip afterward. The guide recommends parrying or dodging diagonally forward. Do not assume the first impact ends the sequence.
  • Descending bite: When the boss rises tall and crashes down, parry just before impact if you are comfortable with the timing. Otherwise, prioritize getting clear rather than forcing a parry.
  • Charged grab: Start sprinting sideways as the boss charges, then dodge just before it clamps down. A late dodge is important; the guide warns that the grab can catch and kill you.
  • Tail whip: The spin can follow other attacks and is especially likely to catch you if you stay behind the boss. Watch and listen for the guide’s described cue—a roar and a tensing body—then move out of range.

Positioning and stamina: how to stay alive

GamingBolt recommends staying at medium distance and off to one side. That gives you room to react without inviting the boss’s rushing grab or tail swipe from excessive range. Avoid lingering behind it to attack: the tail whip can punish that position.

Keep enough stamina to guard or dodge after your own attack. Use short, deliberate openings instead of committing to a long sequence, especially after the slam, which may lead into another hit or a tail whip. If you are using Aegis, the boss-specific guide presents blocking and poking as a viable alternative to landing perfect parries.

When to attack

Prioritize avoiding the full attack sequence, not just its first hit. After a slam, account for the possible follow-up before striking. After other attacks, check for the tail-whip cue rather than assuming the boss is safe because you are behind it.

If you stagger the Predator, GamerBlurb recommends committing to charged attacks during the opening. Outside a stagger, return to the medium-range, stamina-conscious approach instead of chasing damage through a likely follow-up.

Access and difficulty notes

NEOWIZ’s June 6, 2025 launch instructions set Chapter 9 and repairing the Hotel Stargazer as prerequisites for entering the Forgotten Time. They also describe three selectable difficulty levels under Settings → Gameplay → Difficulty. Those are launch-note details; if the current game presents different options or access conditions, follow the in-game version.
