During Rush the Gate, wait for him to summon pylons, find the green one, grapple its Locust Canister, and throw it at Sol. When the hit breaks his protection, use the brief opening to attack, then focus on dodging until the canister mechanic returns.
How to break Idolator Sol’s armor
- Watch for the pylons. Save your effort for the attack that summons them; ordinary shots do not solve Sol’s intact armor.
- Find the green pylon. Grapple the Locust Canister attached to it.
- Throw the canister at Sol. A successful hit briefly removes his invulnerability and creates a damage window.
- Attack during the opening. Aim at exposed areas. Green bubbles may act as critical-hit spots, according to Gamer Guides.
- Reset to defense. Once the opening ends, prioritize movement and watch for the next pylon sequence rather than firing into intact armor.
The encounter takes place at the end of the Fadefields arc in the campaign mission Rush the Gate, according to the Epic Games Store campaign guide.

How to evade Sol’s attacks
Sol’s attack cues call for different responses. Keep moving instead of staying planted to maximize damage; surviving the next attack gives you another chance to use the canister opening.
- Shoulder charge and tracking Locust beam: move laterally or dash out of their path.
- Large blade sweep: jump over it.
- Fissures and spike lines: leave the marked path before the ground attack lands. Later phases can add Locust Fissures and spikes.

Survive the lightning transition
During a phase transition, Sol darkens portions of the arena before lightning strikes the marked areas. Move to the section that remains unaffected and stay alert for the next attack cue. The specialist guide describes three phases, with added pressure later in the fight.
What the January 2026 patch note changes
Borderlands Support’s January 29, 2026 patch notes state: “Idolator Sol now takes damage from Elemental Hazards from skills while Bio Armor is broken.” This applies while Bio Armor is broken; it does not say elemental damage bypasses intact armor. The pylon-and-canister mechanic remains the documented way to open a damage window against his protection.

If you fall through the elevator floor
A Borderlands Support community post dated September 16, 2025 reported that opening the menu while riding the elevator before the fight could cause a player to fall through the floor. The post’s workaround was to exit Fortress Indomita and re-enter. It does not establish whether the issue persists in the current build.
