The Digby Boy is a mining-focused Territory Deviation in Once Human. A Game8 guide reports two ways to obtain it: complete Lowe’s Deviation Expert task in Deadsville or mine ore for a chance of finding one. Once you have it, activate it in your Territory to gather ore; in the Deviation: Survive, Capture, Preserve scenario, it also has a separate combat-support ability.

A Game8 guide, last updated November 13, 2025, reports two acquisition routes. The official sources cited here confirm general Deviation capture systems but do not verify these specific steps, so check your current scenario’s task text and in-game rules.
Complete Lowe’s Deviation Expert task
The guide says Lowe’s Deviation Expert side quest in Deadsville awards The Digby Boy and advises bringing 30 Copper Ore. Treat that quantity and reward as guide-reported details, not a guarantee for every scenario or current build. Game8’s The Digby Boy guide.
Mine ore for a chance to find one
The same guide reports that The Digby Boy may appear while you mine ore, and that rarer ore gives a better chance. It does not provide a spawn percentage or establish a particular ore as the best choice, so there is no reliable rate to plan around from this evidence.

How to use The Digby Boy for mining
The Digby Boy’s core role is Territory ore gathering, rather than serving only as an exploration companion. The community-maintained Once Human Database entry says it goes out to mine when activated, that higher Deviant Energy improves its efficiency, and that it prioritizes a Mining Platform. The entry does not give a precise efficiency multiplier, fixed output rate, or selectable ore type.
- Place or activate it in your Territory. Follow the current in-game Territory controls to assign the Deviation and start its work.
- Use a Mining Platform if you have one unlocked. The Once Human Database Mining Platform entry describes the facility as producing ore based on nearby mineral resources and lists the Logging Platform as a prerequisite. Check the current Memetics and facility screens, since requirements can change with updates.
- Collect the gathered resources. Check the Territory facility and Deviation workflow in game for available ore. The cited entry does not establish a guaranteed quantity or collection interval.
What The Digby Boy does in combat
The mining role is not the only use described in official materials. The official Version 2.1.4 update announcement, published September 24, 2025, says that in the Deviation: Survive, Capture, Preserve scenario, The Digby Boy can continuously knock enemies back and provide a shield when the player’s HP is low. The announcement described that scenario as Early Access at the time.

“The Digby Boy is no longer limited to mining, but can continuously knock back enemies and provide a shield when you’re low on HP.”
That is a scenario-specific combat description, not evidence that the combat ability replaces or applies to Territory mining in every game mode. The announcement also says players in that scenario can form a team of up to three Deviations. If you want to use The Digby Boy in a fight, check the current scenario ability description and team interface.

The roles answer different needs; the cited sources do not establish one as universally better. A historical popularity figure is not a measure of current usefulness: in its October 24, 2025 scenario launch and optimization blog, the Once Human development team reported 425,740 Digby Boy captures during Early Access. That is a developer-reported count for that period, not a current player total.
