Choose between the Rune Broker and the original quest

The Rune Broker guide names brokers in Darnassus, Ironforge, Stormwind, Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff, and Undercity. If you choose this shortcut, check whether you still need the original quest or other rune-related discoveries before buying.
Complete the original Hammer of the Righteous quest
Wowhead lists level 50 as the minimum-level recommendation for this Paladin bracer rune and identifies Paladin Tank as its best-fit build. The guide does not state that level 50 is a hard requirement.
- Learn the Fanaticism rune. It is a prerequisite for starting the Hammer of the Righteous discovery quest. Wowhead’s Paladin rune guide.
- Find Aeonas in Felwood. Go to approximately 43,57 and use the climbable rope to reach him. Exhaust his dialogue, then speak with Gregory and exhaust his dialogue to receive Materials of Significance.
- Collect the four quest items.
- Fiery Infernal Cores: Kill Infernals and Entropic Beasts in Shatter Scar Vale, north of Bloodvenom Falls. Warcraft Tavern specifies that you need three cores; its Paladin rune guide gives that quantity.
- Shimmering Grave Dust: Defeat Princess Theradras in Maraudon.
- Triple-Brewed Molten Lager: Obtain it from Plugger Spazzring in the Grim Guzzler bar inside Blackrock Depths. Warcraft Tavern reports a price of 2 gold 50 silver; the price may be relevant to your purchase, so check the vendor in game.
- Symbol of Faith: Find it in Hillsbrad Foothills at approximately 67,14.
Wowhead’s walkthrough describes the item sources; the core quantity and lager price above are specified by Warcraft Tavern.
- Return to Gregory in Felwood. Turn in Materials of Significance to receive Hammer of the Righteous.
Make sure you buy the right fire-related item
The quest’s wording has confused players: a May 2, 2024 Blizzard forum discussion describes a player misreading the truncated objective “An Elixir of fire…” and buying an Elixir of Firepower from the Auction House. The reply identified the required item as Triple-Brewed Molten Lager from Blackrock Depths, and the player confirmed that the item description cleared up the confusion. Take care when resetting the quest
A Wowhead user comment reports that resetting Materials of Significance after completing A Newly Discovered Path may remove the Symbol of Faith and block further progress. This is a player report, not confirmation of a universal bug. If you have already completed the Symbol of Faith step, avoid resetting the main quest unless you have verified how to recover the item or resume progress. See the Wowhead Paladin rune guide.
