The “this weekend” offer in the original headline is not verified, and Far Cry 6 is no longer an upcoming release: Ubisoft launched it on October 7, 2021. Ubisoft did later run a confirmed Far Cry 5 free weekend in March 2023, but that promotion has ended. No current free weekend is established here.
Is Far Cry 5 free to play this weekend?
There is no verified current offer to follow. The exact historical Far Cry 5 weekend implied by the original headline has not been confirmed, so its dates, platforms, and access steps should not be assumed.

Ubisoft documented a separate Far Cry 5 free weekend that ran through March 27, 2023. It offered access on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC through Ubisoft Connect and the Epic Games Store. Those details apply to that 2023 event only; they do not establish that the game is free now. Ubisoft’s 2023 announcement
How the confirmed 2023 Far Cry 5 weekend worked
For that event, Xbox players needed Xbox Live Gold, while Ubisoft said PlayStation players did not need PSN+. Ubisoft also said progress would carry over if a player purchased the game after the free weekend. These were event-specific terms, not a guarantee for a future promotion. Ubisoft’s 2023 announcement
