You could try for Shiny Necrozma by winning a Dawn Wings or Dusk Mane raid during Pokémon GO’s Necrozma Fusion Raid Day. The event took place on December 14, 2024, and has ended. Niantic’s event announcement said the chance of encountering Shiny Necrozma was increased, but did not give a specific probability.
How the Shiny Necrozma raid encounter worked
During the event, raids featured Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma. After a successful raid, the fused form reverted to Necrozma for the catch encounter, giving you a chance—not a guarantee—of finding its shiny form. Both raid types also awarded Necrozma Candy; defeating Dusk Mane awarded Solar Fusion Energy, while defeating Dawn Wings awarded Lunar Fusion Energy. The event announcement described the increased shiny chance and rewards.

When the event ran—and what access it offered
Necrozma Fusion Raid Day ran on December 14, 2024, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. local time. These raid-pass and ticket benefits applied only to that event and are no longer available through it.
- Trainers could get up to five additional free Raid Passes by spinning Gym Photo Discs, for a daily maximum of seven.
- The Remote Raid Pass limit rose to 20 for the announced period from December 13 at 5:00 p.m. through December 14 at 8:00 p.m. PST.
- An optional event ticket, priced at US$5 or the equivalent local pricing tier, was sold in the in-game shop until 5:00 p.m. local time on December 14. It offered eight additional Raid Passes from Gym Photo Discs (for a daily total of 15), an increased chance of Rare Candy XL from raids, 50% more XP from raids, and 2× Stardust from raids.
What were the Shiny Necrozma odds?
The official announcement confirmed an increased chance of encountering Shiny Necrozma in raids but did not publish a numeric rate. No exact odds can be established from that announcement, so treat specific percentages found elsewhere as unverified unless they are backed by a reliable source reporting a measured rate.

Which raids to target and how to prepare
Both raid bosses could lead to a Necrozma catch encounter. Your choice also determined which Fusion Energy you received: Solar from Dusk Mane and Lunar from Dawn Wings. For raid-team planning, the official type guides support these recommendations:
- Standard Necrozma: Bug-, Ghost-, and Dark-type attacks are effective.
- Dusk Mane Necrozma: Its Psychic/Steel typing makes it weak to Fire, Ground, Ghost, and Dark attacks. Choose attackers with suitable Fast and Charged attacks of those types.
- Dawn Wings Necrozma: The cited official type guidance does not provide a detailed counter recommendation for this form, so no specific ranking is included here.

Is Necrozma Fusion Raid Day coming back?
The event was a 2024 event, and the official sources cited here do not establish that this specific Fusion Raid Day will return. A July 6, 2026 Pokémon GO announcement lists Necrozma in a dated raid schedule, but does not confirm a rerun of the Fusion Raid Day or establish shiny odds for a future appearance: July 2026 event announcement.
