HAC-001 identifies a standard Nintendo Switch, HEG-001 identifies a Nintendo Switch – OLED Model, and HDH-001 identifies a Nintendo Switch Lite. The OLED model’s marking is beneath its adjustable stand. If you can’t read the marking, find the serial number in System Settings → System → Serial Information, then use Nintendo Support’s model and label-location guide.
Find the model number on the console
- Turn the console over. Look for the model text on the rear shell. On the OLED model, lift the adjustable stand to find the marking beneath it.
- Match the code: HAC-001 is Nintendo Switch; HEG-001 is Nintendo Switch – OLED Model; HDH-001 is Nintendo Switch Lite. Nintendo’s serial-number support guide shows the label locations and model mapping: Where Can I Find My System Serial Number?
Nintendo also lists BEE-001 as Nintendo Switch 2, which is a separate, newer console rather than one of these three Switch models.
If the marking is unreadable
On the console, open System Settings → System → Serial Information to view its serial number. Nintendo says the serial sticker is on the bottom of standard Switch and Switch Lite systems, and beneath the OLED model’s stand. Its support guide can help you locate the label if you need to check it.
Tell the OLED model from the standard Switch or Lite
The model code is the clearest check. Visible features can confirm what you found: Nintendo describes the OLED model as having a 7-inch OLED screen, a wider adjustable stand, 64 GB of internal storage, enhanced audio in handheld and tabletop modes, and a dock with a built-in wired LAN port. The Lite is identified directly by HDH-001. To check whether a screen protector is suitable, use one whose product listing explicitly names your console model. Nintendo cautions that protectors made for the standard Switch or Switch Lite may not fit the OLED model correctly; that warning does not establish the fit of every third-party product.
Check whether a standard Switch is the revised battery model
Both versions are standard Nintendo Switch systems, but their model markings differ: HAC-001 is the original version and HAC-001(-01) is the revised version. Nintendo’s Americas serial-number examples associate the prefix XAW with HAC-001 and XKW with HAC-001(-01). These are regional examples, not universal rules, so rely on the model marking rather than applying the prefixes worldwide.

Battery duration can be a secondary clue, not a substitute for checking the code. Nintendo’s current support specifications give approximate ranges that vary by software and use:

These are Nintendo’s approximate manufacturer specifications, not guaranteed play times. Nintendo explains the variation on its battery-duration support page.
