To age up an EA account, the child account holder must reach the minimum age EA sets for the account’s country or region, then log in to the EA app and follow the age-up notification. If the birth date on the account is wrong, request a correction from EA instead of changing it to bypass an age restriction.
Check whether the account is eligible
EA uses “age up” to mean upgrading a child account to a teen account. Eligibility depends on the minimum age EA lists for the country or region associated with the account; there is no single worldwide threshold. For example, EA lists 13 for the United States and United Kingdom, and 18 for South Korea. These are EA account thresholds, not a statement of general legal age requirements. Check EA’s current country and region list for the applicable threshold.
Follow the age-up prompt in the EA app
- Once the account holder reaches the applicable minimum age, have them log in to the EA app.
- Look for the age-up notification. EA says it appears each time an eligible player logs in.
- Select the notification and follow the instructions shown in the app. EA’s support guidance does not document every screen in the process, so the exact steps after the prompt may vary.
If the player has reached the listed age but does not see a prompt, contact EA Account support for help with that account.
What teen account status allows
EA says teen accounts can play online, chat with friends, invite friends, use online companion apps, and buy or download games from EA’s online store. A teen account can remain linked to a parent or guardian account, which can be used to set playtime limits and spending controls. See EA’s teen-account guidance for details.

If the birth date on the account is incorrect
Correcting an inaccurate birth date is separate from aging up. EA says a date of birth usually becomes locked after account creation because it helps determine account status and apply country requirements. Use the account correction process; do not enter a different birth date just to reach teen or adult access.
- Open EA’s date-of-birth support instructions and check whether an Edit option is available under Account Information.
- If it is available, use it and follow the instructions displayed.
- If there is no Edit option, contact EA Help. Be ready to provide the EA ID or linked email and explain the incorrect date. EA may verify account ownership and identity, and may request proof of identity or age before reviewing the correction.
Age up is not adult age assurance
A child account becoming a teen account does not itself confirm that the account holder is an adult. EA’s age-assurance process applies to certain age-restricted games, features, and purchases. A successful check displays an “Adult” label in Account Information; EA may also ask a player to reconfirm age in some circumstances. Parental consent alone does not verify an account as adult. See EA’s age-assurance instructions for that separate process.
