That year, he said, the company opened an art studio in Dalat, Vietnam, and engineering-focused studios in Warsaw, Poland, and Prague, Czechia. Later company announcements document further expansion through launches and acquisitions, rather than studio openings alone.
Why Virtuos opened studios in Dalat, Warsaw and Prague
In a GamesBeat interview published August 26, 2023, Angely put the rationale simply: “Our strategy is still to expand closer to our clients.” He said Virtuos had opened three studios that year: an art studio in Dalat and engineering-focused studios in Warsaw and Prague. The European teams were intended to serve European partners, with a focus on engineering and optimization. GamesBeat’s interview was updated June 18, 2025.
The pattern described in the interview was not just geographic growth. It paired a new location with a particular capability: art production in Dalat, and engineering and optimization in Warsaw and Prague. Angely also pointed to access to talent pools as part of the expansion rationale.
How the studio expansion fits Virtuos’s service model
Angely described Virtuos’s core business as producing content for game-development partners. He also said employees could originate ideas for original games. If an idea fit a client’s interests, Virtuos might help prototype it and could potentially co-finance the project with that client as publisher. That is a selective possibility in the model he outlined, not a commitment to fund every employee pitch. GamesBeat.

In that context, opening local teams can put specialized production capacity nearer to partner needs while drawing on regional talent. The interview explains Virtuos’s stated rationale; it does not establish how much work each studio handles or quantify the effect of proximity on projects.
What changed after the 2023 interview
Virtuos’s later announcements show that expansion continued through a mix of launches and transactions. The announcements establish what the company said it did; they do not, by themselves, independently verify the wider strategic claims in Angely’s interview.
| Date | Expansion mechanism | Location or organization | Stated context |

| 2023 (reported in the August interview; confirmed in a 2024 company announcement) | Studio launches and expansion | Dalat, Vietnam; Warsaw, Poland; Prague, Czechia; Tokyo, Japan | The 2024 announcement said Virtuos had expanded into Dalat and launched Tokyo, as well as engineering-focused Virtuos Labs in Warsaw and Prague. | August 20, 2024 | Acquisition | Third Kind Games, United Kingdom | Virtuos announced its acquisition of the UK developer. Virtuos announcement. |
| January 23, 2025 | Acquisitions and majority investment | Abstraction, Netherlands; Pipeworks Studios, United States; Umanaïa Interactive, Canada | Virtuos announced acquisitions of Abstraction and Pipeworks Studios, and a majority stake in Umanaïa Interactive, describing the deals as expanding its presence in Europe and North America. Virtuos announcement. |
| March 12, 2025 | Studio launch | Seoul, South Korea | Virtuos announced a game-development studio launch in Seoul. Virtuos announcement. |
The distinction matters: Dalat, Warsaw, Prague, Tokyo and Seoul were described as studio expansions or launches, while the UK, Dutch and US entries were acquisitions, and the Canadian transaction was a majority investment. The cited announcements do not provide a comprehensive current studio inventory or workforce total.

Angely said Virtuos had 22 locations in 2023, with more than 1,000 people in Vietnam, 500 in Europe and 100 in North America. These are figures attributed to him in the 2023 interview, not independently audited totals or current headcounts. GamesBeat.
They offer a dated snapshot of the footprint Angely described, but they should not be used to calculate Virtuos’s present-day size. The 2024–2025 company announcements document specific later activity, not a complete updated count.
