Keep talking to them and progress through the game’s routes: later relationship steps may depend on dialogue, a quest, or route progress rather than another Nectar. There is no verified universal gift sequence for every character, so use the in-game prompt as your current checklist.
This guide reflects the game after its full release and subsequent updates. Supergiant’s official FAQ was updated April 14, 2026, and its v1.0 announcement describes new character events, Fated List prophecies, and late-game unlockables. That means some Early Access-era gift lists may not cover the current game. Supergiant’s Hades II FAQ and its v1.0 announcement provide the official release context.

How to approach character gifts
- Find the character and check the Book of Shadows. Use the character’s entry and the gift prompt to see whether a gift can be given and what the game is asking for.
- Give the requested item when the prompt allows it. Nectar is a common first gift, but it is not the answer to every relationship step.
- Talk to the character again and keep progressing. If the next heart or gift step is locked, continue conversations and relevant quests or route progress; do not assume another Nectar will unlock it.
- Recheck the prompt after new dialogue or progress. Different characters can have different requirements, and the game’s current prompt is more reliable than a fixed sequence copied from an older guide.
Nectar: a common first step toward Keepsakes
For many eligible characters, giving Nectar for the first time awards that character’s Keepsake. It is a useful way to collect available Keepsakes early: spread initial Nectar among characters who accept it rather than spending every bottle on one person. This is a general pattern, not a guarantee that every character gives a Keepsake for Nectar; exceptions exist. GamesRadar’s Keepsakes guide describes Nectar as the first-gift path for many Keepsakes and notes exceptions.
Later Nectar gifts may advance affinity, but they do not reliably produce another Keepsake or automatically unlock the next relationship step. Follow the character’s own indicator and prompt instead of treating every heart as a Nectar milestone.

Bath Salts, Twin Lures, and Ambrosia
These are other relationship gifts, not alternate names for Keepsakes. In a post-launch gifting update, Supergiant said: “Most Crossroads characters now can be gifted Bath Salts, Twin Lures, or Ambrosia indefinitely after forging a bond with them, in various brief new scenes.” The wording matters: the change applies to most, not necessarily all, Crossroads characters, and it describes repeat gifts after a bond is forged. Those repeat gifts can trigger brief scenes, but they should not be mistaken for a universal route to the next relationship heart. When a character is not accepting an item, or the relationship does not advance, check the prompt and continue relevant dialogue, quests, or route progress.

Familiars are separate from character Keepsakes
Animal Familiars are a distinct unlock track, not another set of character Keepsakes. Supergiant’s Olympic Update announcement identifies Animal Familiars as an addition to the game, while GamesRadar’s Familiar guide says Witch’s Delight is needed to recruit them.
Use the in-game Familiar interaction to see what is available and what you need next. The available sources do not establish a complete current recipe and prerequisite sequence for every Familiar, so a single all-species checklist would risk giving you stale or unsupported steps.

Gift collection can unlock other systems
Gifting can also contribute to broader progression. The community-maintained Hades II Cauldron reference lists Kindred Keepsakes as requiring two Keepsakes obtained through gifting, and Empath’s Intuition as requiring nine such Keepsakes along with other prerequisites. These are examples of gift collection feeding into incantation unlocks, not a complete list of requirements or a replacement for the current in-game recipe.
Why an exact “every character” gift list is unreliable
A complete, current per-character table of every Keepsake, gift sequence, Familiar, and prerequisite is not established by the available official and guide information. The official material confirms broad systems and update changes; third-party guides cover only portions of character-specific progression. Because v1.0 added character events, prophecies, and late-game unlockables, an older fixed list can also miss newer progression. Check each character’s Book of Shadows entry and live gift prompt for the exact next step.
