To unlock the Crimson Wolf weapon variant in Overwatch, earn the reported 3,000 current-year Competitive Points for the hero you want it on, then buy it from that hero’s Weapons menu in the Hero Gallery. The weapon variant is separate from Doomfist’s Crimson Wolf character skin, which is a rank reward. Because the exact price and availability details come from February 2026 guides, check the live game client before spending points.
How to buy the Crimson Wolf weapon variant
- Earn current-year Competitive Points. Play competitive matches; PC Gamer also reports Stadium competitive matches, progression bonuses, and end-of-season Drives as earning routes in its February 2026 guide: PC Gamer’s Crimson Wolf guide.
- Save enough points for the hero you choose. PC Gamer and Dexerto both report a price of 3,000 Competitive Points per hero’s weapon. That figure is guide-reported, not confirmed in Blizzard’s announcement, so verify the cost in the client: Dexerto’s unlock guide.
- Open the purchase menu. Go to Hero Gallery → select a hero → Weapons → Crimson Wolf, then choose the purchase option if available. This is the navigation path reported by Dexerto; menu labels may change in an update.
The reported price is per hero, so buying the variant for one hero should not be assumed to unlock it for every hero.
Which Competitive Points can you use?
The February 2026 guides distinguish current-year Competitive Points from Legacy Competitive Points. Crimson Wolf is described as the current-year weapon variant, while Legacy points apply to previous-year variants such as Golden, Jade, and Galactic. A Legacy balance of 3,000 points therefore does not, by itself, establish that you can buy Crimson Wolf.
If the option is locked, check that you have the right currency type as well as enough points. Then confirm that the item is still available in the live client. A February 2026 Overwatch Forums discussion illustrates player confusion about the two currencies, but it is anecdotal rather than official support guidance: Overwatch Forums.

Crimson Wolf weapon variant vs. Doomfist skin
There are two Overwatch rewards with the Crimson Wolf name. Blizzard’s February 2026 announcement identifies Crimson Wolf as the new competitive weapon and separately announces a Doomfist competitive skin for players reaching Diamond or higher: Blizzard’s Overwatch news.
| Reward | What it changes | How it is earned | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crimson Wolf weapon variant | A selected hero’s weapon appearance | Purchase with the reported 3,000 current-year Competitive Points per hero; confirm the live price in-game | The hero whose weapon you select in the gallery |
| Doomfist Crimson Wolf skin | Doomfist’s character appearance | Reach Diamond during Seasons 1–3, according to Dexerto’s February 2026 guide | Doomfist only |
The Doomfist skin is not a prerequisite for buying the weapon variant. Blizzard’s announcement establishes the Diamond-or-higher reward; the Seasons 1–3 window comes from Dexerto’s guide.

How long is Crimson Wolf available?
Blizzard announced Crimson Wolf as the weapon for the 2026 competitive year. PC Gamer reported in February 2026 that it was planned to leave the current-year offering in February 2027 and become a Legacy reward when the next competitive year begins. Treat that as the published plan at the time, not a guarantee of current availability; check the in-game listing and current patch notes.
