How to unlock Good Old Pebbles
- Get Pebbles, if you do not already have her. Find Groom Ballatay at the Semine stables. A successful speech check can return her to you for free; you can also buy her if the check fails.
- Make Pebbles your active horse. Ride her manually over time and aim for about 35 km to trigger Good Old Pebbles. Fast travel does not count toward the distance, according to a current guide.
- Check her stats. Reopen the horse screen after the perk unlocks to see its effect on your setup.
How tack can improve Pebbles
Tack offers a separate way to tune horse stats; it does not replace the riding-distance requirement for Good Old Pebbles. Choose equipment for the stat you need, then check the displayed changes on Pebbles.

- Carrying capacity: Prioritize a saddle or saddlebags if you regularly carry loot.
- Speed: Consider horseshoes if faster travel is your priority.
- Other preferences: Bridles and caparisons can address other needs, but equipment may improve one stat at the expense of another.
Why Pebbles’ final stats may differ
Do not treat stat totals from a guide as guaranteed values. Tack, Horsemanship perks, and Good Old Pebbles all affect the comparison. Check the horse screen with your current equipment and perks to see the actual result.
Shacknews reported a set of before-and-after figures in 2025, but later guides do not establish identical conditions, so those values should not be treated as universal current totals. No official developer documentation confirming the current patch behavior was identified.
