The original way to unlock Destiny 2’s 10th-anniversary Veteran Legend armor was to find five Cayde’s Stashes in the Lost City, the old Tower area in the Pale Heart. Each stash awarded one armor piece. After collecting all five, claim the character’s Triumph and pick up the ornament package from the Special Deliveries terminal in the Tower. That is the original route; whether it remains available now is unconfirmed.
Is the Veteran Legend armor still obtainable?
Current availability is not confirmed. Player posts from 2026 question whether the set can still be acquired and raise the possibility that the original route ended around the Edge of Fate transition, but they are not an official Bungie confirmation. The instructions below describe the original 2024 unlock. Check in game or Bungie’s current announcements before assuming a new or returning player can still claim it. How the original armor unlock worked
Bungie announced three class-specific armor sets inspired by early Destiny concept armor, found by exploring around the Tower in the Pale Heart. The armor is called the Veteran Legend set. The original acquisition route was the same for each class, but the stashes and Triumph had to be completed on the character receiving that class’s reward. Original unlock steps
- Unlock the Lost City on the character you are using. Contemporary guide coverage says access to its transmat zone required progress through The Final Shape campaign on each character. GameSpot’s Cayde’s Stash guide.
- Find all five Cayde’s Stashes. Search the old Tower area of the Lost City. Each stash awarded one piece of the Veteran Legend armor. The contemporary walkthrough maps their locations; it also notes that an on-screen notification appears as you approach one. Use a visual walkthrough if you need directions to the individual chests. GameSpot’s Cayde’s Stash guide.
- Claim the full-set Triumph. Once you have collected all five stashes, claim the associated Triumph on that character. Bungie Help guidance identifies this as part of the trigger for the ornament package. Bungie Help forum guidance.
- Collect the package at Special Deliveries. In the Tower, visit the Special Deliveries terminal between Banshee-44 and Master Rahool and claim the 10th-anniversary reward package. It contains the universal ornaments associated with the armor. Bungie Help forum guidance.
What to check if the ornaments are missing
- Verify the character’s progress. Make sure that character has all five stashes and that its Triumph has been claimed. For another class, repeat the stash collection and claim that character’s Triumph before expecting its package. Bungie Help forum guidance.
- Look through the Special Deliveries queue. An unclaimed-rewards queue that is already full can obscure the expected package. Bungie Help forum guidance.
- Check the armor’s appearance options. Bungie Help guidance says the ornament may not appear as available while the corresponding Veteran Legend armor is equipped. Bungie Help forum guidance.
- Do not look for a Synthweave requirement. Bungie Help replies say these anniversary ornaments do not require Synthweave. Bungie Help forum discussion.
What the armor is—and is not
The reward includes the class-specific Veteran Legend armor and a universal-ornament package. The physical armor pieces came from the five stashes; the ornaments were claimed separately from Special Deliveries. The anniversary announcement also mentioned a physical NERF LMTD Ace of Spades replica, but that merchandise is unrelated to unlocking the armor. Bungie’s 10th-anniversary announcement.
