Unfamiliar sessions, account changes you did not make, or trades and purchases you did not initiate can indicate someone else accessed your Roblox account. None is conclusive on its own: Roblox says session locations are approximate, and older inactive sessions may appear as “Unknown.” Check your sessions and account notices, then secure the account if anything looks wrong.
Signs someone else may have accessed your account
- An unfamiliar login or session: Roblox may email a verified address about a login from a new device or IP address. The details are approximate, so an unfamiliar region is a reason to investigate—not proof by itself. Roblox Security Notifications
- A password-change security banner: Roblox says it may show this when it detects suspicious account activity or suspects your password was stolen from another service. The banner does not explain exactly what happened. Roblox: My account was hacked – What do I do?
- Account details you did not change: An unexpected change to your password, email, or phone number may interfere with sign-in or recovery.
- Activity you do not recognize: Check for trades, purchases, or other account activity you did not initiate.
- You can no longer sign in: This may happen after someone changes your credentials, though other login problems are possible.
Roblox Support warns that players commonly lose accounts by sharing login information or filling out online surveys. Never share your password, browser cookies, two-step verification (2SV) codes, or backup codes—even with someone claiming to be Roblox staff. Roblox: Keep Your Account Safe
Check active sessions in Roblox
The session list is a practical way to check for access you do not recognize. In Roblox, open Settings > Security > Where you’re logged in. The panel lists sessions with an approximate region, device, and last-active time. Roblox notes that older inactive sessions can display as “Unknown” when session details are missing; that label alone does not establish that an intruder is using your account. Roblox: Session Management
Compare the device and recent activity with your own use. If a session looks suspicious, use the option to sign it out, or select Log Out of All Other Sessions to end the other sessions. If you received a login notice, treat its device or location as a clue rather than a precise location record.

- Open Roblox’s official Forgot Password or Username? recovery flow and try the email associated with the account. Use the phone recovery option if it is available for your account. Roblox account recovery
- If no email or phone is associated with the account, or recovery fails because details were changed, contact Roblox Support and describe the sign-in problem.
- If available, provide the first email added to the account or the billing email used for its first payment to help verify ownership. Roblox says providing this information does not guarantee account recovery. Roblox: My account was hacked – What do I do?
If virtual items or currency are missing, contact Roblox Support promptly. Roblox says it may assist with lost inventory or its approximate value only in very limited circumstances, and asks users to contact Support within 30 days of compromise. Restoration is not guaranteed. Roblox: My account was hacked – What do I do?

Choose account protections with recovery in mind
| Option | What Roblox says | Important trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Authenticator app or email 2SV | Available as standard second-step options; Roblox recommends an authenticator app in its account-safety guidance. Roblox 2SV Keep Your Account Safe | Keep access to the method you choose so you can complete sign-in challenges. |
| Enhanced Protection with passkeys or supported hardware security keys | Roblox describes these as phishing-resistant options. Enrollment requires a passkey, a verified email, and either a verified phone number or backup codes. While Enhanced Protection is active, email OTP and authenticator-app codes are disabled for 2SV challenges. Roblox: Enhanced Protection | Losing a passkey can require a multi-step recovery process. Hardware-key compatibility depends on the supported platform; Roblox gives YubiKey as an example. A key helps prevent some account takeovers, but does not diagnose a compromise, scan a device, or restore an account. |
| Verified recovery contact details | A verified email or phone can provide recovery options; availability varies by account and geography. Roblox says users under 13 can use a parental recovery email. Roblox: How to Verify Email Address or Phone Number | Keep the recovery email or phone secure and current. |
Roblox’s published support guidance explains its account controls and recommendations; it does not quantify how often accounts are hacked. Treat alerts and session details as security clues, not a definitive incident report.
