To beat Callis the Ripper Queen in Borderlands 4, keep moving sideways to dodge her charges, web shots, and rocket markers; jump or use the gaps to cross her molten waves; and clear the summoned adds when she retreats to the wall. This is the Carcadia Burn fight during “Her Flaming Vision”, at the Moon-Called Throne—not the later Moon-Maddened Callis encounter on Elpis.
Where to find Callis and what to expect
Callis appears at the Moon-Called Throne in Carcadia Burn during the campaign mission “Her Flaming Vision.” The encounter has two health bars: Armor first, then Flesh. Her attacks combine arena hazards, ranged barrages, and close-range strikes, so staying at range when practical gives you more time to read her telegraphs.

There is no established required character build or minimum level for this fight. The arena has ammo crates around its outer edge, so use the perimeter to replenish ammunition when you have a safe opening. The Epic Games Store campaign guide also names Drone Mines that explode after a short time and bomb-carrying Rippers; treat these as hazards to watch for rather than assuming Callis follows one fixed attack sequence.
How to respond to Callis’s attacks
Danger orbs
Orbs scattered across the arena explode when triggered by walking over them. Keep your eyes on the floor, especially if you are backpedalling. If an orb blocks the route you need, shoot it to destroy it. Orbs can also be used for Second Wind revivals.

Molten waves
Callis sends molten waves outward from her position; after a short delay, they return. Jump over a wave or move through a safe gap between waves, then check behind you for the returning wave before settling into another attack.
Spinning charge and melee swipe
For her spinning charge, Callis turns into a vertical disc and rushes toward you. Dash sideways as she is about to connect instead of retreating straight back. Her upward, X-shaped swipe is a close-range attack that knocks you away; keeping some distance limits your exposure, and a sidestep can avoid it if she closes in.
Rockets
When Callis pauses to fire rockets, watch for the landing circles on the floor. Move into open space rather than trying to hold your position inside a marked area. The later phase can involve more rockets, so keep looking for fresh markers as you move.
Web shot and stinger
In the later phase, Callis telegraphs a web shot with a mechanical stinger. The shot does not track you, so move sideways out of its path instead of dodging backward into an orb or another hazard.

What to do when Callis climbs the wall
After the Armor bar is depleted, Callis can attach to a web on the wall and become immune while she summons waves of adds. Kill the adds to bring her back into the fight, but keep moving as you clear them. Epic’s campaign guide also describes Laser Nets during this transition; avoid standing in them because they can damage and immobilize you.
Which elements to use
Mobalytics recommends Corrosive or Radiation against Callis’s Armor, then Incendiary against her Flesh. These are guide recommendations, not an official universal damage rule. Mobalytics says Incendiary damage to Flesh can increase “up to 175%” on Hard/UVH5 difficulty; do not apply that figure to other difficulties. If you do not have those elements available, prioritize avoiding hazards and staying on the attack whenever Callis is vulnerable.
Quick fight plan
- Enter the arena ready to watch the floor, and keep the outer edge in mind for the scattered ammo crates.
- During the Armor bar, prioritize Corrosive or Radiation if available. Shoot obstructive danger orbs and sidestep the spinning charge.
- Jump or use the gaps to cross molten waves, then watch for the delayed return. Move out of rocket landing circles and sideways from the web shot.
- When Callis retreats to the wall and becomes immune, clear her adds while avoiding Laser Nets and other floor hazards.
- During the Flesh bar, switch to Incendiary if available and continue responding to each attack’s telegraph rather than relying on a fixed sequence.
Do not confuse this fight with Moon-Maddened Callis
Moon-Maddened Callis is a separate, later fight in “Another Day, Another Universe” on Elpis. That encounter adds the danger of being knocked off a floating arena rock and having to grapple back, as well as an overhead net during the transition. Those Elpis-specific hazards are not part of the Moon-Called Throne instructions above.
