In BaeGames’ Forbidden Word, one partner gets a topic and a banned word, then talks about the topic for two minutes without saying that word. The game page says its full version contains 20 prompts, shuffled between plays. The name can also refer to a Taboo-style team game, which uses a different clue-giving format.
How to play BaeGames’ Forbidden Word
- Choose a prompt: One partner receives a topic and the word they must avoid.
- Talk for two minutes: Discuss the topic without saying the banned word.
- Use another prompt for the next round: BaeGames says the full game has 20 prompts and shuffles them between plays.
Those are the rules stated on BaeGames’ Forbidden Word page. It does not specify scoring, penalties for saying the word, or how partners switch roles. If you want to add a point system or take turns as speaker, agree on those house rules before starting rather than treating them as official rules.
How this differs from the boxed game Taboo
In Hasbro’s Taboo, players work in teams. A clue-giver tries to get teammates to say a target Guess word without using the forbidden words printed on the card. Players race against a timer; if the clue-giver says a forbidden word, an opponent can use the squeaker and the team loses the point.
Hasbro lists the cited edition, game E2616, for four or more players ages 13 and up. Its product contents are 162 cards, a squeaker, a sand timer, a score pad, a Game-changer die, and a game guide; Hasbro says the cards include over 640 Guess words. These are figures from Hasbro’s product page; the page does not state a year.

Mobile games using similar names may follow different rules. Redword’s listing describes team or individual play: a describer sees a target and four forbidden words, and others guess before time runs out. It includes points, skips, and adjustable house rules; the listing says it was updated September 30, 2026. See Redword on Google Play.
