Roblox does not publish one fixed duration for every account ban. A suspension can last one day or longer, while severe violations may result in immediate account termination. Check your moderation notice: it identifies the action taken and the appeal route available for your case.
How long can a Roblox account ban last?
It depends on the case. Roblox’s Terms of Use say the company may warn or suspend a user for one day or longer for hate speech, and may terminate an account if the user repeats the behavior. The terms also allow Roblox to terminate an account immediately, without prior warning, for severe violations.
Those are policy examples, not a fixed schedule for every offense. Roblox says it considers factors such as the nature and severity of a violation, its consequences, the user’s prior violations and history of use, and intent. The available action can therefore vary; the terms do not establish an average ban length or promise a standard sequence of warnings and suspensions.
Is it an account ban, an experience ban, or a chat restriction?
“Roblox ban” can refer to different restrictions, and the right answer depends on which one you received.

| Restriction | What it affects | Who handles it |
|---|---|---|
| Account moderation | May involve a warning, content removal, restricted access, suspension, or account termination. | Roblox; use the appeal route in the moderation notice. |
| Experience-specific ban | Prevents access to one experience under its creator’s custom rules. | The experience creator handles the ban and related appeal. |
| Chat restriction | Temporarily prevents sending messages after repeated filtered messages; continued violations could eventually lead to account suspensions or bans. | Roblox’s chat moderation applies the restriction; it is not itself a published account-ban schedule. |
Account moderation
Roblox account moderation can affect more than one experience or feature. The specific notice tells you what action was taken and, when available, how to appeal it. Roblox’s Terms of Use describe possible actions but do not assign a universal duration to each violation.
Experience-specific bans
Experience creators can set custom rules and manage bans from their own experiences. Roblox says to appeal a custom-rule ban directly to the creator, rather than through an account-moderation appeal. If you are banned from an experience for more than 14 days, its subscription is automatically canceled without a refund. See Understanding Custom Experience Rules on Roblox.

Chat restrictions
Roblox’s Text Chat Nudge FAQ describes temporary restrictions that become longer after repeated messages caught by chat filters. That escalation concerns the ability to send messages; it does not establish a fixed timeline for account bans.
How to check your ban and appeal an account action
- Read the moderation notification. It explains the reason for the action and whether to appeal through Violations & Appeals or the Roblox Support form.
- Submit an eligible appeal on time. Roblox’s appeal instructions give a standard deadline of 30 days. The page also describes a separate six-month initial appeal period for EU users under the rights it covers. Check the current page and your notice for which period and route apply.
- Include the required account details. For an account appeal submitted through the Support form, provide the account username, use the account’s valid email address, and briefly explain why the action should be reviewed.
- Wait for the review rather than sending duplicates. An appeal is a request for review, not a guarantee that Roblox will reverse the action. Roblox says duplicate appeals after a review will not be considered, and only the account owner may appeal an account action.
- Use the creator’s route for a custom-rule ban. If the restriction applies only to one experience, contact its creator rather than appealing a Roblox account moderation action.
What the published time limits do—and do not—tell you
- One day or longer: an example in Roblox’s Terms for a suspension related to hate speech, not a universal minimum or standard penalty for all offenses.
- Immediate termination: permitted by the Terms for severe violations, without prior warning.
- 30 days: the standard appeal submission period stated by Roblox, subject to the separate EU period described on its appeal page.
- More than 14 days: the threshold at which a subscription for an experience is automatically canceled without a refund when the user is banned from that experience.
Roblox does not publish an account-ban average or a general distribution of ban lengths in the cited policy pages. For an individual case, rely on the notice and the appeal information it provides rather than an anecdotal list of penalties.
