To open a maglock in Dead Island 2, follow the green wires from the door to the electrical panel or panels powering it, then destroy them. If a panel is behind a window, break the glass and throw a weapon at it. Check for a second panel if the door stays locked, and disable any reachable alarm first if you can.

Look for an accessible alarm near the door. Disable it before destroying the panels if the layout lets you reach it safely; breaking glass or panels can trigger an alarm and draw nearby zombies.

Destroy the connected panel or panels, then check whether the door has unlocked. Some maglocks require two panels, and destroying both may trigger an alarm.

If the door remains locked, retrace the wires and look for another panel rather than searching for a key.
Where to find the panels
Panel placement varies by door. Follow the wires rather than relying on a single route: a panel may be mounted on an outer wall or visible through a window inside the locked room. The Epic Games Store’s SoLA walkthrough also shows a security-room example that uses two panels.

Venice Beach police station
For the police-station maglock during the Cold Pork quest, Gamer Guides’ walkthrough directs players to follow the green wires to the right and destroy the electrical box visible just inside a window. That route applies to this location; other maglocks can have panels in different places.

A maglock opens when you destroy its associated electrical panel or panels. A fusebox door uses a different mechanic: find a Fuse and install it in the fusebox. Gamer Guides’ Fuse guide describes Fuses as available from merchants. If the door shows a fusebox or prompts you to place a Fuse, use that route instead of looking for maglock panels.
