Iaido Slash is Stormblade’s fast, burst-focused specialization: build or refill Thunder Sigils, then spend them during Volt Surge with Iaido Slash and Flash Strike. Treat the rotation below as a baseline, not a guaranteed current-patch optimum: the detailed fan guide does not identify its game patch, and its priority list contains an unnamed skill.
How Iaido Slash works
Iaido Slash is a melee DPS specialization built around gaining and spending Thunder Sigils. The Stormblade guide lists Iaido Slash and Flash Strike as Sigil-consuming attacks; each consumes all available Sigils and gains 25% damage per Sigil. It lists Overdrive as a five-charge attack that grants one Sigil per strike. These are values from a fan-maintained skill table, not independently verified live-patch data. Star Resonance Fan Hub’s Stormblade guide says it is unaffiliated with the game’s developers or publisher.

Volt Surge is the key burst window in the reviewed descriptions. The same guide lists a 12-second duration and 45-second cooldown. While it is active, actions that would grant Thunder Sigils instead fill the resource to maximum; the guide also lists an attack increase and Super Armor. That makes timing important: enter the window ready to use your spenders, and avoid spending it while key actions are unavailable.
What the listed numbers mean
The fan guide’s skill table lists Iaido Slash at 210% ATK + 600 damage and Flash Strike at 490% ATK + 1,400 total damage, with each consumed Sigil adding 25% damage to either attack. It lists Volt Surge’s attack increase as 10% + 80 ATK. These figures should not be read as confirmed current values: the guide does not name a patch, and no reviewed source verifies them against the live game as of October 8, 2026.

How to use the burst window
- Build Sigils and prepare your spenders. Use Overdrive to generate Sigils when needed, and keep your main Sigil-consuming attacks available for the burst window where possible.
- Activate Volt Surge when you can follow through. The guide lists a 12-second window; try to use its resource-filling effect and attack benefit with damaging actions rather than activating it when you cannot act.
- Spend Sigils with Iaido Slash and Flash Strike. Both consume all available Sigils and scale with the amount spent, according to the guide. Prioritize fitting available spenders into Volt Surge, while accounting for your latency and execution speed.
- Resume Sigil generation and repeat. Outside the window, use the available generation and damage skills according to the baseline priority below. The reviewed sources do not establish a universally optimal sequence for every patch or player.
Baseline skill priority
The Star Resonance Fan Hub guide presents this starter priority assuming at least its yellow-marked talents. It says to maintain Scythe Wheel. Beyond that, its priority is conditional:
During Volt Surge
- Use Overdrive if you are below maximum Thunder Sigils.
- Use Flash Strike when it is ready and you have at least three Sigils.
- The guide next lists “Missing Skill” when Flash Strike is on cooldown and you have at least three Sigils. It does not name that ability, so check the current in-game skill descriptions rather than assuming which spender it means.
Outside Volt Surge
- Use Oblivion Combo when it is ready.
- Use Flash Strike when it is available and you have at least three Sigils.
- If Flash Strike is on cooldown and you have at least three Sigils, the guide again lists “Missing Skill” without identifying the ability.
- Use Judgment Cut until Sharp Strike triggers, then use Overdrive to consume that buff and generate Sigils.
The guide also refers to generated Sigils being used on “skills 3 or 4,” but the excerpt does not explain its numbering convention. Do not treat those numbers as confirmed keybinds.

Prydwen characterizes Iaido Slash as a burst-oriented spec that can be difficult to execute at high ping: latency can make it harder to fit as many finishers into Volt Surge. The specialist guide rates its single-target damage above its area damage and cites strong burst and scaling, but also flags high Crit needs, low party utility, and difficulty with high latency or automation. These are guide assessments, not measured game telemetry. Prydwen’s Stormblade guide was last updated September 10, 2025, so it does not by itself establish current-patch rankings.
Iaido Slash or Moonstrike?
Choose based on play pattern and gearing rather than assuming one spec is always better. Prydwen describes both as viable in endgame, while the specialist guide is more cautious about Moonstrike; the guides may reflect different versions or evaluation criteria.
| Factor | Iaido Slash | Moonstrike |
|---|---|---|
| Core loop | Build or refill Thunder Sigils, then use Sigil-consuming burst attacks around Volt Surge. | Centered on Blade Intent and Thundercut, according to Prydwen. |
| Execution | Fast burst timing and fitting finishers into Volt Surge can be challenging at high ping. | The reviewed material identifies Haste breakpoints as a gearing consideration; it does not make the same latency-specific claim about Moonstrike. |
| Stats and damage emphasis | The specialist guide says Iaido needs high Crit and rates single-target damage above area damage. | Prydwen emphasizes Haste breakpoints; the specialist guide additionally says Luck matters. |
| Endgame assessment | Prydwen calls it viable in endgame; this is not a guarantee of current-patch superiority. | Prydwen also calls Moonstrike viable in endgame, although the other guide’s assessment is more cautious. |
What to verify in game
- Check the current skill descriptions for Sigil generation, spender scaling, and Volt Surge duration and cooldown; the reviewed numerical values are not confirmed for the live patch.
- Identify the unnamed spender in the fan guide’s priority list before building a rotation around it.
- Use current patch-specific advice for talents and exact sequencing, especially if latency makes Volt Surge execution difficult.
A separate site labeled “Official Guide” describes itself in its footer as fan-made and unaffiliated, and its material is general rather than Iaido-specific. It is not evidence that the rotation or values above are officially confirmed. Blue Protocol: Star Resonance guide page.
