How to Play Tejo in VALORANT: Ability Tips and Teamplay

Play Tejo as a proactive Initiator: use information and round context to choose where to apply pressure, tell teammates what you are clearing, and move while opponents are forced to react. His map-targeted utility can be placed precisely, but it covers less ground than broad area-clearing tools, so an uninformed cast or a strike with no follow-up can waste its value.

What Tejo does—and how to get value from him

Tejo’s kit is built around targeted pressure and flushing opponents out of positions. Riot describes his approach as more top-down than clearing angles one by one. Think of his abilities as ways to disrupt or expose a known area so your team can take space, not as a substitute for checking every angle.

Before using map-targeted utility, combine available information with the round situation: where defenders were last seen, which areas remain unconfirmed, and where teammates are ready to move. Call the target and timing. Tejo’s abilities create an opportunity; teammates need to contest the space while opponents are repositioning.

How to use each Tejo ability

Stealth Drone: gather information, then act on it

Pilot the drone to look for opponents and use its pulse when it can hit them. The pulse suppresses and reveals enemies it hits. Riot’s Patch 12.00, published January 6, 2026, changed the reveal to a full reveal and reduced the pulse radius from 30m to 16m, so do not rely on launch-era descriptions of a 30m pulse.

Use what the drone finds to guide follow-up utility or a teammate’s entry. A drone trip that yields no actionable information is less useful than one that confirms a position your team can pressure immediately.

Guided Salvo: spend a limited resource on a useful target

Use the map targeting to pressure a position you have reason to believe is occupied or strategically important. Riot’s Patch 10.09, published May 13, 2025, changed Guided Salvo to a no-recharge charge model, added a free charge at round start, made charges accrue per rocket, and reduced its map range from 55m to 45m. An uninformed cast therefore commits a meaningful resource.

Do not mistake precise placement for a broad site clear. Riot’s developers describe the trade-off as accurate targeting without requiring perfect-pixel lineups, but with a smaller area of impact. Check the live client for current ability details before relying on exact damage or launch behavior.

Special Delivery: start a fight or disrupt a setup

Use Special Delivery to help initiate a contest or disrupt defensive utility, and coordinate with a teammate who can challenge the affected area. Patch 12.00 shortened its concuss duration from 4 seconds to 2.5 seconds and added 20–35 explosion damage. Treat those as Riot’s January 2026 patch values; verify the current client in case a later update changed them.

Armageddon: force movement, then take ground

Use Armageddon’s directional wave to make defenders leave a position or give ground. Tell teammates where the pressure is going and when to move, then follow while the defensive setup is disrupted. Riot’s Agent Team Lead has emphasized that the rockets are most valuable when teammates capitalize on defenders repositioning.

Riot’s Patch 10.09 raised Armageddon’s cost from 8 to 9 ultimate points. That is the patch value announced in May 2025; check the live client for any later change.

Coordinate the utility with a teammate

Tejo has no flash, according to Riot’s January 2025 launch article, and the developers said he can be more effective alongside another Initiator such as Breach or KAY/O for fast, explosive takes. Riot also named Neon as an Agent who can capitalize on the distance Tejo’s pressure creates. These are developer observations, not a universal composition rule or a current tier list.

For a coordinated play, agree on three things before committing: the area Tejo will target, what information supports that target, and who moves as the utility lands. A flash or fast-entry teammate can help turn disruption into a fight your team is prepared to take.

Practice targeting and timing

1. Open a Custom game. Use a map you want to learn and identify the positions or routes you intend to pressure.
2. Enable in-world map pings if useful. Riot’s Patch 10.00 notes mention a Custom-game option to show map pings in-world to support lineup practice.
3. Practice the sequence, not just the placement. Rehearse when to gather information, when to target utility, and when a teammate should move. A target that works in one situation may not suit a different round or map layout.
4. Recheck after updates. Map changes and balance patches can affect where and when a setup is useful; do not assume a practiced lineup works everywhere or indefinitely.

Keep Tejo’s values current

Tejo’s abilities have changed since launch. Riot’s Patch 10.09 (May 13, 2025) changed Guided Salvo’s range and resource model, Armageddon’s ultimate cost, and the costs of Stealth Drone and Special Delivery. Patch 12.00 (January 6, 2026) changed the drone pulse and Special Delivery. The figures below are the values stated in those patch notes, not a guarantee of the current live client.

For the definitive live values, consult the official Tejo Agent page and the latest relevant VALORANT patch notes. Riot’s later Patch 12.09 notes also mention a Guided Salvo sound bug fix, which is a reminder that ability behavior can receive follow-up updates.
