Black Ops 6 Zombies supports two-player split-screen on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It does not support split-screen on PS4 or Xbox One, and the game requires an internet connection even for local couch co-op. Connect a second controller, open Zombies, and follow the on-screen prompt to join; the exact button can vary by console and current game interface.
Check that your console supports split-screen
Activision defines split-screen as two players sharing one screen and confirms it for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. PS4 and Xbox One are not supported for this feature. Black Ops 6 is also available on PC, but PC availability does not mean PC split-screen is supported.

If a PlayStation cross-gen bundle offers both downloads, install the PS5 version to play on PS5. The Zombies squad can include up to three additional teammates, but that does not increase the two-player local split-screen limit.
How to add a second player
- Install and launch the supported console version. Use the PS5 version on a PlayStation 5, or the Xbox Series X|S version on a supported Xbox.
- Connect the second controller. Sign in or select a player profile if the console or game asks you to.
- Open Zombies. With the second controller active, follow the join prompt shown by the current game build. Activision’s support pages confirm split-screen availability but do not document one universal button or account sequence for both consoles.
- Check that both players appear in the lobby. Choose a Zombies map and start the session once player two has joined.
Why split-screen still needs an internet connection
Local split-screen means both players use the same console and screen; it does not mean the game runs offline. Activision says Black Ops 6 requires a continuous internet connection for any mode, including Campaign. Make sure the console is online before launching or joining Zombies.

Online access and subscription requirements depend on the platform and plan. Activision says Game Pass Premium subscribers need Game Pass Essential for online Multiplayer and Zombies. Its statement that Campaign can be played without a premium subscription applies specifically to Campaign, not Zombies. If access is blocked, check the current console store prompt or official subscription terms for your plan.

Activision’s Known Issues page, updated July 10, 2026, marks as addressed an issue that immediately kicked Player 2 when attempting to enable split-screen. “Addressed” describes the tracked issue’s status; it does not guarantee every player-two problem is resolved. See the current Known Issues page and Activision Support if the problem persists.

- Retry the on-screen join flow with the second controller connected before entering Zombies.
- Confirm that you are using the supported PS5 or Xbox Series X|S version, not a previous-generation console version.
- Check the console’s internet connection and any account or online-access prompt.
- If the game continues to remove player two, consult Activision’s current support information rather than assuming the addressed issue is necessarily the cause.
