On the Dordle.io page, you have seven guesses for a standard round. Read the color clues separately for each word, then use each new guess to narrow down both answers.
How to play Dordle
The Dordle.io page offers a Daily Dordle and a Free Play mode. To start a standard round:
- Open Dordle.io and choose a mode.
- Enter a valid five-letter word and submit it. The guess is applied to both boards.
- Read the colors on each board independently: green means the letter is in the right position; yellow means it is in the word but in another position; gray means it is not in that answer.
- Use the clues from both boards to choose your next word. A letter can be useful on one board and ruled out on the other.
- Keep guessing until both words are solved or you have used all seven guesses.
The page says browser play is free and does not require a download or sign-up.
How to read clues across two boards
Keep a separate record of what each board has established. For each answer, note green letters and their positions, yellow letters that must move, and gray letters eliminated from that word. Do not assume a clue on one board applies to the other: the two hidden words are independent.

A guess can be valuable even if it does not solve either word. It may test likely letters on both boards at once, so use the feedback to improve the next guess rather than focusing only on an immediate solve.
Choosing useful guesses
The Dordle.io page suggests vowel-heavy opening words such as ADIEU or AUDIO. Treat these as suggestions, not proven best openings: no comparative solve-rate evidence is established here. After the first guess, prioritize words that fit the confirmed positions and misplaced letters on each board while testing useful unknown letters.
If the version you are playing offers hard mode, check its own rules before relying on a familiar definition. Dordle.io describes a constraint requiring you to reuse revealed hints on at least one unsolved board; other Dordle versions may handle the mode differently.
Daily, Free Play, and other modes
Dordle.io lists Daily Dordle and Free Play, as well as additional modes. Its descriptions are specific to that page, not universal rules for every site using the Dordle name.
